Default can't get past log in server.

Suddenly upon zoning I crashed twice. The third time I tried to log in I got a time out. Then a few times after that I was able to log in to the server list...but the server list was blank. No servers listed. I checked my connection it's fine. I'm able to browse no problem but when I try to log into p99 blue server I get at best a blank screen where the server list should be. Not sure why this is happening, any suggestions?

Is there anyone else sharing your connection in the house? This problem is famously apparent when someone piece of crap in another room is downloading and hogging bandwidth, watching Netflix/streaming, etc.

If you play wirelessly, you can bet the problem will be less apparent with an ethernet cable.

Same issue for me, i've crashed 5 times while zoning now, and had to open the EQ client probably 40+ times to get it to log in successfully 5 times.

This issue only seemed to happen today for me, last night seemed ok.

It seems that if you open like 10 instances of the EQ client and just keep trying over and over it helps. try on 1, if it failed X the window and try again. the only way to actually get in is if the server select fully loads instantly. if not don't even try, just X and move on.

Sounds a bit different than it was for the guy in this thread, and probably not the same as the Linux issue that the thing I made works around, but... might be worth a look.

Exactly what I was getting a couple of weeks back, packet loss during the connection.

The first two pages are full of multiple people reporting the same issue.

Once you are in, as long as you don't zone you are golden - zone or swap chars and the cycle starts all over again.

Symptoms for me last time were:
1. Blank server selection screen 80% of the time
2. An unknown error occurred while trying to join the server. (server's came up, 9% packet loss between HE and 170.rogean.com
3. Error - a timeout occurred before the server selection pops up, after this it doesn't pop up of course.
4. When it does connect just freezes between char select and logging in.
5. Managed to connect, green bar shows 100%, PL highlighted by couple of pixels on moving from side to side on the bar. (2-4 pixels by a rough look.) and it will freeze when zoning 99% of the time

I had this issue on my secondary PC my G/F uses to play, we've been having to use our entertainment center PC so she could play without having to bust out the laptop. As you'd guess, having to play EQ with the screen so far away was annoying.
I decided to try and work on the second tower and figure it out. I scanned forums, attempted to root out bad files, etc.
It turned out to be something quite annoying.
It wasn't outdated drivers or a corrupt file. It wasn't that the computer was too high speed for EQ ether. Duxas All in One didn't solve it ether.
It was the BIOS!
After I updated the BIOS (careful as you can really screw over your computer) it now runs perfectly.
