Custom velious plate helm - Wrong color

I know this hasnt been released yet but wanted to raise it prior, since I just found out how it was in beta.

This is more specifically for Custom cowl of mortality. From what I understand, when this quest was tested in velious beta the custom helm appeared to be black instead of gold, which isn't right. I distinctly recall it being of a gold-ish tint (dragon helm for humans, horn helm for dwarfs, etc) instead of a black custom plate look. I suspect when the luclin models got introduced these helms changed in base color but originally they did not have one, which provided the gold look.

There wasn't much detail on allakhazam about the color but a lot of people recalled it being gold back then. Here are some forum posts:

My opinion is biased because I played human monk during velious era, but golden dragon helm just looked uber badass on human male monk to me for some reason. Loved my old Custom cowl of mortality.

Yes Vothsisx, it was called Cowl of Immortality and orignally gold. Was a quest in SkyShrine from Dragons up the winding staircase.
Agree Moscato , No longer Fantasy in the sense of original EQ, as well as the examples you showed ( darn ! no human armour graphics??) .. now it looks like we have star wars wardrobe developers doing EQ clothing and we are all inflicted with ugly armour making the characters look like ..hmmmm.. pixels on steroids??
I did not buy Heros'Forge so guess will plod along as is - I also do not use the items that change the appearance of items.

OR can ANY velious helm be customised? or only quested helms that can be customised.

I saw GM leonidus with the custom dark elf helm at rygrims funeral event. I asked him and another gm to switch races so i could see all the helms. They did not do this.

Helm of the tracker was another one that could be customized but was separate from the custom plate helm quest

For the quest it consisted of all plate class helms from the velious class armor, the king crowns (tormax and dain) and cowl of mortality. I don't believe white dragon helm was customizable (I even tested it on live didn't work). The custom helm design that would be shown follows the race and sex of the character ie Human male/female characters showed a gold dragon helm, dwarfs males a gold helmet with horns, iksar males with an alien facehugger, etc

can you give me a hint where thats doable then plz? which npc offers that one?

back on live i never got around to doing any of this, wasnt really up to raid lvl stuff when velious came out, and by time i was raiding pop had rolled around....and better gear.

I could be wrong but I think its hard coded in when custom velious helm graphics get patched, so it should show as such then

Cowl of Mortality (and custom cowl) have a Lustrous Russet color instead of black.

so there is ONE custom helm npc per faction? or is there more turn in npcs, dotted about...

Nope, only 1 npc per faction for the custom helm quest. So total 3
