Custom UI crashes/installation issues

OK so I've been trying to install various custom UIs and I've been running into trouble. I've tried to follow the guides as closely as I can, namely extracting files into folders in /everquest/uifiles. Here the problem Im getting is that even if I make a new folder in uifiles, it does not show up in game when I click "Load UI skin" in options.

The only choices are "default" and "default_old", and I can switch between them just fine, however using /loadskin command with any custom UI I've downloaded crashes the game or just turns the screen black while still leaving me able to move around in game.

What's even stranger is that I ONLY have a "default" folder in uifiles, there isn't even a "default_old" folder, nor could I find one when I searched the entire everquest directory, yet I'm still somehow able to use "default_old" UI in game, but I am not able to select any custom UIs.

I would very much appreciate any assistance to get this to work as it's giving me alot of headaches. This is my first post on the forums so please forgive me if this is the incorrect way to make a new thread asking for help.
