Unable to see server list/Unable to log in with char

[Event Horizon]

Was just playing today when when EQ froze after I used Gate. Now I am unable to log back in because one of three things always happens:

1: I am able to log in but the server lists are all blank.

2: I am able to log in and see the servers, select P1999, get to character select, but always freeze when entering world.

3: I am not able to log in at all - the game says "logging in to the server, please wait" but it never goes anywhere.

Edit: I have tried changing the eqhost.txt file from Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998 to Host=leqemulator.net:5998 but it always says "a timeout occurred".

The server status on this site says it's up, so what's going on? My internet is working fine. I've tried restarting. Any ideas?

How could a crash using Gate really cause this?
