Default Opinions on best Duo

My girlfriend and I are planning on starting characters that we will be playing mostly exclusively with each other. So I was wondering what your thoughts on the best Duo are...

I've read that cleric/enchanter is the best duo but I've never personally experienced it.

The answer also changes depending on what your goals are.

Our goals are pretty simple. Have a good time playing and don't die to often...

Cleric/necro. You'll be invincible! Necro replenishes mana with health, cleric replenishes health with mana, both murder the undead with scary efficiency...

Of course, at least one of you has to be a little evil, but that's okay.

Cleric/enchanter, cleric/necro, shaman/necro are the clear favorites overall (in terms of pure duo power). Outstanding buffs, CC, pulling, heals. Respectable DPS at a minimum becoming amazing at higher levels with charm. You can grind through mobs, crawl through dungeons, camp basically anything in the game, all with just the two of you. You're also a very strong foundation for adding more people to the group if you choose to. You lack convenience of ports (and with two of those three combos, sow), you need to be ok with relying on charm to kill stuff, you need to stick with the duo for 30+ levels to truly come into your own... but in terms of pure power, those are the three I would think.

But there's plenty of other combos that will work also, even if they don't have the pure power. Pair a cleric or a shaman with any melee (well, not a rogue); you get buffs, heals, CC, tanking, you just have low DPS. Pair a druid with a chanter or necro; you lack rez and CH for a charmed pet compared to a cleric, but you gain ports and sow and regen and DS damage and can still CC like crazy and crawl through dungeons and such. Pair any healer with a mage; might be tougher to break camps indoors and can be a bit boring, but still pretty strong. Pair two pet classes; no xp penalties and you'll have godly pets (mages) or tons of other utility too (necros).

Even something really unorthodox like druid/bard would be quite powerful overall in the right hands, especially while leveling up. Nice buffs, great hp/mp regen, roots and mezzes, charming animals to fear kite outdoors, ports plus selo's for travel, you could even root rot with the bard chanting with a drum while the druid roots and dots.

Plenty of good duos out there. Probably the two most popular would be Enchanter/Cleric and Monk/Shaman mostly because they are good for both outdoor and dungeons. Starting out I would say Monk/Shaman would be a better choice as Enchanter/Cleric wont really start to shine till later levels.

Some duos I don't see that often but work really well for out door zone are Necro/Rogue and Ranger/Enchanter. Also I hear Shaman/Necro and Shaman/Magician work well together.

Not sure if you are are worried about the exp penalty for certain classes but if you are they will be removed come Velious.

My personal favorite is Enchanter/Cleric.

Your enjoyed playstyles really matter here. Enchanter with a charmed pet and a cleric may be the optimal duo, but if you don't enjoy wrangling a charmed pet then that is out. If the other person doesn't enjoy largely being a cheal bot, that is out.

I think that bard/shaman is a very underrated and awesomely fun duo.

Back on live in 1999, I was a dark elf cleric teamed with my friend, who played a dark elf enchanter and we duo any non-raid NPC post 30. Also post 30 our duo of barbarian warrior and barbarian shaman worked very well to.

Now here's the rub. The Shaman/warrior duo was fast to level to 30, but things slowed down a bit post 30. We could still duo any non raid mob post 30, it just took longer. Where as the Cleric/Enchanter combo worked just the opposite. The first 30 levels were slow and post 30 we wiped the floor with XP. Either way, both combos are fun.

Currently my friend, my brother and I are experimenting with an all caster group. I'm a druid, my brother is a wizard and my friend is an enchanter. It's working pretty well. We want to try and get a regular mage, necro and cleric to fill out the group. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Druid/Necro is a really powerful duo. Go Human necro and half-elf druid.

I really like DE Enchanter/Cleric too. That's what I'm doing atm with a guildmate. We make a great team so far. We're both ~level 10. One downside to that pair though is the enc pet is frickin horrible. Coming from playing a necro for so long the enc pet is so, so, so ghetto. But we still do ok. Enc CC makes up for it so far and looking ahead I think the buffs/debuffs will as well compared to the necro.

Has anyone ever tried bard/rogue? With the bard perma fearing/snaring a mob and the rogue just following BSing it to death. Seems like it would be a pretty good xp duo as long as you have the area to fear kite a mob.
