Default Thanks blue server, making a newbie want to stick around

Thanks blue server for making a newbie want to stick around and realizing a few things about community. Sure, there are some bad apples but just coming to this server for the first time, I have been very impressed with the community here.

Its amazing once you start helping others, the "karma" that comes back to you.I seen a guy, an Iksar monk so desperate for cured silk which no one was making in field of bone. I happened to have a level 3 human monk that I worked on tailoring on so that I could make a set of cured silk for my brother.

It was a huge pain in the ass but I had the buyer to give me the silk and plat, then bought a port from a druid. He was drunk and dropped me off in the wrong druid ring so I had to ask his guild to send a replacement porter to get me to WC. I ran to EC tunnel and had to buy additional silk with some plat he gave me because I fail a lot as my skill is very low. I then took all my silk in a pack and dropped it to the ground in a remote area which I picked up with my tailor. An hour later I had a set of cured silk which I had to drop on the ground and transfer back to my iksar necro which could gate back to field of bone. Hell of a journey.

Upon presenting the cured silk set to him he thanks me and gave me with a nice neck upgrade. I went on my way and some guy offers to power level me. Turns out the guy which wanted the silk had a high level character. He knew what I did was a pain the arse and really appreciated it. He leveled me in the pit for 3 levels and let me keep the spider silk. I ended up making about 75pp in additional profit from the transaction as well.

A few other people gave me random pieces of equipment as well, which probably totals about 1000pp worth of gear, which I shared with my brother which is newer than me.

I post this as a reminder to myself and others to stay awesome, keep sharing, helping, even when its not easy, and making this a great community. Your rock p99 blue. I will do my best to pass along all the generosity that I was shown and appreciate greatly.

I have yet to have a bad interaction with any player on this server. I have been here a month and had more than a few interactions that went the complete opposite. One that really stands out was I found a corpse deep in third floor of befallen and sent a tell to the player asking if they needed it dragged to the entrance. They responded that they fell in the hole and were on the way back and would love if I could drag it.

I did and their wife logged on with her lvl 60 cleric to rez them. Fast forward two days and I die horribly to a train deep in upper guk by Lord. I ask in EC as I was still bound there if anyone could help me get body and rez as there was really no one in the zone at that time. The same cleric responded and said they would run down there and get me. They couldn't grab a port so they ran from EC to Guk and dragged my body and rezzed it. Talk about a great people making a great community!

Thanks for this. It's nice to see more of these rather than all the negative postings of rants and ravings.

Thanks for sharing this story, Ashur. I keep running into small packs of new players or solo folks when jaunting about on my druid so I'll toss them some buffs, tell 'em how to make the best use of thorns/dmg shield, stick around for a bit to ensure they dont pull more than they can handle, then I go about my merry way knowing I helped someone in the transition to p99. Just this week I ran into a group of 3- dwarf, wood elf & high elf in WC, buffed em & helped em pull/break the derv camp. Ran into a group of 4 Dark Elves & buffed em good. Then there's the lowbies that I give bronze armor & lowbie weapons to.

Why do I do this (when I could be getting xp on the grind to 60)?
1) Cuz thats what I like about being on my druid, tossing a buff on someone & having it help them out.
2) Cuz when I was just getting started here on p99, several folks did the same for me. A couple ppl gave me some starter gear pieces, others buffed me & still others took the time to answer my questions as it'd been 10 years since I last played & needed a refresher on some things.

It's easy to get jaded by the dbag who stole your camp or that person in group not pulling their weight & getting pissy when the group calls him/her out on it, etc. But I've always said that what makes p99 great (& why it reminds me SO much of classic) is the community. Keep being awesome, people!
