![]() So I haven't played in awhile and when I logged in i noticed that sometimes when I turn my character, a sort of "grid" appears on the screen. It happens too briefly to get a screenshot, but happens often enough to be fu#$ing annoying.
Basically the screen alternates with white squares and fully rendered colored squares across the screen in a checkerboard-type pattern. I've tryed screwing around with ATI Catalyst disabling/enablind AA, Anistotrophy, V Sync etc. Anyone know what might be causing this!??! (only happens with Emu0

![]() does this happen when you face the same direction everytime..like, say, West?
it used to do that to me for the longest on classic, after a while i would get what the wife and i called "the west bug". it would go away after a bit if i turned off my rig, turns out i had a failing fan on my video card and once it reached a certain temperature i would do it. It was a black screen with a plaid pattern, it is now what i think of when i hear the term Black Irish. so, yeah, jokes aside, check if it's always the same direction...and then check your vid card fans to make sure they are indeed working. If they are, check the other fans in your rig, your vents and most importantly the exhaust on your power supply. i hope this helps you out some.

![]() Yea I checked into all of this....
I monitor my card temps and everything -- card rarely if ever goes above 65C. And that's when I'm playing modern games. Not EQ.

![]() To clarify a few things, do those squares only appear around objects like trees, players and mobs? Does it look like the skybox is being visible through those squares all around objects (different colors depending on day and if you look up or down)? If yes then I had the same problem and I fixed it by going to options > display > advanced and turn the sky reflection update as low as possible (once per minute) as I noticed that flicker was directly related to the update counter there. Hope that helps.
