Default Proud of your homebuilt?

I'm considering a hardware refresh, but I wanted to probe these forums first and see if anyone has a rig they are just super-happy with. It doesn't have to be home-built I guess - if you bought a low-end/refurb unit and jazzed it up somehow, that qualifies also.

I pretty much use my PC for EQ > web browsing, so obvisously it doesn't need to be an ultra powerhouse. I just want something that runs this particular game very well.

For example: I am rather disappointed in my apparent inability to swarm kite in Overthere, despite the fact that my current PC was pretty decent at the time it was built:

Summary
Operating System
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
CPU
Intel Core i5 2400 @ 3.10GHz 33 °C
Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology
RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 802MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. P8P67 LE (LGA1155) 27 °C
Graphics
G246HL (1920x1080@60Hz)
G246HL (1920x1080@60Hz)
1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series (ATI AIB) 46 °C
Storage
238GB Samsung SSD 840 PRO Series ATA Device (SSD) 28 °C
74GB Western Digital ATA Device (SATA) 33 °C
2GB Dataram, Inc. RAMDiskVE (RAM Disk)
Optical Drives
HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH16NS40 ATA Device
Audio
AMD High Definition Audio Device

There's also the fact that since the last round of patches, I've been having a hell of a time getting and staying connected to the world. My wife plays on a ~1yo ASUS gaming laptop on the same home network, and has 0 issues. I can't ignore that this is somehow pointing the finger at my rig.

make sure your shadows are turned off for kiting.... made a huge difference for me. They lag pretty good even on top end systems.

Yeah I tried shutting down all kinds of things.

Years ago, when I first started the bard, I got over the first hump using RAMDrive. Prior to that, anytime a PC came into view (or slightly before), I would get a graphics lag hitch that would eff up my arc and often point me right at my train.

Since then, I got the SSD, which worked almost as well.

However, when I got to OT, I was screwed... nothing I do makes any difference. My train appears to be well behind me and then suddenly it's on top of me.

From my experience, internet connection is the biggest impact on bard AoE kiting. I have 50 mbps download.

Make sure you have /showspelleffects off, but I'm sure you've already done that.

Bard aoe kiting, use default ui, turn everything else off, shadows to 0 opacity to 0 there's a few tabs at bottom of alt o that's about players near you, turn it all off and onto nearest, showspells off, turn sky to off, far clip plane 0 use a thumb drive for eq, worse comes to worse, there's an option in alt o to switch eq from 32 bit to 16 bit. I had to do all of that to kite 250 mobs in ot on my bard nothing is sexier than going from lvl 34 to 37 in one kite.

thats my exact build. temps are good (no need for any liquid cooling hipster crap), and ive never had a problem with running anything, be it gaming, editing/encoding videos, blurays, etc.

Your system is not the problem with bard kiting. You could probably run 20 instances of EQ on that system. I'd check your overall internet speed and then make sure your modem/router and ethernet connection on your motherboard aren't throttling your speed.
