Default Shaman Spells

Looking over classic EQ, am I correct to assume the only safe place to buy shaman spells if I'm a barbarian, is Halas?

Correct. You could always hire a newbie to get them for you in other places though.

Don't they sell a bunch at Firiona Vie? Certainly all the Kunark ones, but I thought they had some old world ones too (can't remember for sure).

Also, some Shaman spells can be found in West Karana or at the Gypsy circles.

In any case, if you plan on leaving Halas to explore the world, just buy your next spell set in advance and store them in your bank. Then you can "get your spells" from any major city.

I did end up finding at least some of the essential ones in Qeynos

Ah yeah, I almost mentioned that any of the cross-class ones can be found in other towns. However, at least for most spell levels, there are enough important Shaman-only spells (Cannabalize, pet, slow, etc.) that you'll want to make a trip back home eventually.

Yeah, I was mainly trying to ditch Everfrost pre-level 10ish. The newbie field is too dangerous, too contentious, and not enough money/exp there. So I went to Qeynos instead.
