Default New player in the UK

Hello folks. I recently joined the blue server, playing a bard, Solipsis, starting in Qeynos. Whilst it is impossible to have that feeling of wonder quite like I had it in 2000 this server comes so very close. In short, I am having a blast.

I live in southern England, so expect to be in quite a small minority. I don't play a huge amount- basically, whenever I can raise wife faction above scowling, but I have got myself close to level 10 in a few days; thank goodness for gnoll fangs!

The community has been great so far. People have been kind and helpful, and I have even been given a great weapon, an Ykeshan War Club, which really transformed my stay in Blackburrow for the better.

The next order of business is to find a friendly guild, with opportunities to group. The question is, do any guilds have a few European members who might be around when I am (roughly 2:30-5pm EST some nights, 5-7pm EST other nights and whenever possible at the weekend, usually rather early for the US.)?

One other question: how much do people pay for ports? With about 20 plat saved so far, I am not much of a business proposition, but I wouldn't want to pay less than the proper rate. The trouble is, I need to get to Kelethin to buy spells and EC to replace my cloth armour. Not much use if I spend all the money on ports!

Anyway, thankyou to the devs who have built this server and to the community at large; it is amazing to experience something of those early days on Quellious again, and it is a lot of fun to be here.

I'm in the south as well. I'm guildless so I can't really help you out with much advice there. As far as ports go, I'm not really sure if there is a going rate. Generally due to constant encumbrance and my limited banking abilities I carry my currency in the form of peridots. I generally give 2 dots (20pp and some change) for a port. This is just for ports from Faydwer to Antonica etc. I've not had anyone evac me to EJ as punishment yet, so I guess the tip is alright.

That's where most of us are hanging. There's some English folks in some of the poopsock raiding guilds though so we are scattered around.

Perhaps the best advice is to get into a leveling guild and group with the people you are leveling with as often as possible, then you can always rethink things when you get to 46 and want to start raiding. I know Europa always welcomes more raiders.

I'd save your hard earned platinum and take the boat, relive that classic feeling til you get a little more cash together [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Thanks guys. Maybe a big guild like Knights who say ni would work, simply by virtue of numbers. If they'd have me, of course. They do seem nice too.
The boat? Oh, that run through Kithicor as a newbie...now that is true, spine-tingling nostalgia.
