The Regurgatonic part of this quest is bugged atm

I did this quest a while ago with another char and it worked correct.

Atm Mammoth is not accepting the regurgatonic. You just get i back again

The gnome can give you a bad batch of regurgitonic. It can identified with the Identify spell.

So, most likely, you were unlucky with the gnome.
