Default What's a good WoW class?

Might be playing Corecraft when it comes out. I have very little WoW experience. I played with some coworkers back in TBC but all I remember is getting really high and doing dumb shit on raids. Of course we were always successful because as long as you mashed the right buttons the boss would die regardless of your level of inebriation. Corecraft is apparently also TBC.

I tried playing a Vanilla WoW emu server a couple years ago. I chose Druid cause it looked fun. It wasn't fun.

I like EQ shamans, are WoW shamans any good?

I wasn't a fan but try it. You can get a good feel in a few hours. I liked cleric, Hunter, and wizard best.

My main was always a mage. I had just realized the other day that I only ever played frost spec with my mage which is kind of strange but I only cared about pvp in that game.

Priest are pretty damn fun though. I liked my disc priest and was pretty much my only alt besides level 29 twinks. Shaman were pretty fun in early wow. My brother played an enhancement spec shaman in vanilla and TBC. They are nothing like shaman in EQ though unless you go restoration I suppose.

I hated the content and overall feel of TBC and I quit after Arena season 3. Game was a breath of fresh air when it came out then it turned into a crap fest with gear ratings and ultra casual hand holding. The game jumped the shark for me when they started blurring class identities and removing any uniqueness.

TBC era shamans sucked I thought. They changed from being "a warrior with totems" (enhancement was godlike) to breaking that part of the tree and forcing you to be either a healing shammie or a mage type shammie.

Ruined it for me at least [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Hunters are a safe bet, enjoyable/easy.
Warlocks are fun too [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Is this game anywhere near launch? I'm seeing forum posts quoting launch Q1 2013. It's been pushed back and back which isn't bad since they seem to be focused on getting it right.
But I don't know if I'd pick a class and start looking for a guild quite yet.

Hunter for sure, vanilla and TBC pet mechanics were great.

Also kinda curious why you are waiting for corecraft and not already playing on one of the thousands of wow emus out there already...is it the EQclassic of Wow emus?

I always enjoyed playing a rogue, they are absolutely beast when played correctly depending on spec. Also enjoyed playing a shadow priest.

Rogues were the bane of my life in WSG. So many saps when you're holding the flag [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

your pick should heavily be influenced by which patch you are playing on, if you are looking for a tank/healer role. otherwise i would suggest warlock, as they are consistently powerful throughout the whole progression and have some really handy utility.
