Default The Forum Community

I'd like to begin by saying we have a fantastic community here on Project 1999. It's rare to find a group of like-minded gamers who are so giving to their fellow players. There are so many of you who provide invaluable contributions both in game and on the forums on a daily basis, and I extend my personal thanks as well as the thanks of the entire Project 1999 staff to the entire community for making this server great. That being said, recent events seem to have sparked a trend here in Server Chat, and that needs to be addressed.

I understand that this is a stressful time for many of you. I understand that tensions are high, and we all want to take this opportunity to point out past grievances, flame each other, or just spew whatever garbled gibberish we can form into a coherent sentence by slamming our faces into the keyboard.

This is not the place for that kind of behavior.

We have a forum specifically set aside for people who want to talk about their 4+ year old feuds, disagreements, differences in opinion, and hatred. It's called Rants n Flames, and it's there for a reason. Keep your toxic posts to RnF. There is a clearly stated forum rule regarding this.

You all know when you're making a post specifically worded to take a swing at someone, or provoke them into taking a swing at you. Just don't do it. We're all adults here (well, most of us), and you are all expected to act in a respectful manner when you're posting in this forum. There is a difference between discussion and flaming. If you feel like doing the latter, go make a thread in RnF.

I'm not opposed to handing out permanent forum bans for people who can't understand and follow this. This is often times the first forum people look at when they come to this server, and for the past two weeks all it's been filled with page to page is hate, insults, and childish behavior. Let's make a better impression on our new Norrathian residents, because the attitude on these forums the past couple weeks does not reflect the attitude of the community at large or in-game.

Last warning. You all know better. Clean it up.

I'm glad that none of the negativity has touched me so far. I continue to meet great people in the game every day. I'm happy to report that at least from levels 1-40, folks are as kind and generous as ever.

I often browse the forums while I'm working or doing somesuch, but mostly I'm looking for discussion about gameplay. I must say that it has been difficult to find the good threads lately because of the abundance of stressed out existential p99 philosophy, but I also derive a certain satisfaction watching the fussiness of certain hardcore forumquesters from the comfort of my indifference.

The reason I'm here is to play Everquest. There's just nothing like it! This is from someone who will probably never see a raid of any kind just because of my RL commitments and alt addiction (highest level after 2 years is 43). I just want to explore Norrath and group with skilled EQers in dangerous situations.

Great post.

I am a forum reader, and I have definitely noticed the decorum slipping in Server Chat the past couple weeks. I wrote it off to the fervent nature of the Raid Discussion talks, but it was time to reel it back in. The current deportment isn't helping raid talks, it's hurting it.

Great analogy.

Setting the record strait, clarifying = Ok.
Setting the record strait and knocking that bitch down a few pegs = Repost in RnF please.

Besides, RnF is getting bored with all their normal folks trollin' up Server Chat. They'd welcome you with open arms.
