Default Scott Carpenter, Mercury astronaut

Died at 88 today. The second American after John Glenn to orbit the Earth, in the project prior to the Apollo project, the Mercury flights.

There is controversy about his particular mission. It had glitches.

Not being an astronaut, I can;t say one way or the other, which is why I thought I'd post here on the elf simulator's RnF forum.

Any astronauts there want to give a perspective on this? I'm just not skilled enough in space flight to say either way.

Scott Carpenter was a badass. Glad he got to do what he did. It inspired me to give a fuck about space travel, science, and the nature of the universe and humanity.
