Quest Issue: The Penance

the iskar quest The Penance does not seem to be working for shadow knights. I got the book from Squire Gristle just fine and got the 2nd book from the Toilmaster. Got the hammer/bag and the mortar and pestle as well no problem. Filled the bag and combined it as well. Turned the Book and the combined bag back to Squire Gristle and no reward. Tried again and turned in the 2nd Book and combined bag to Lord Gikzic and no reward either. So what am I doing wrong or is this quest not working for Shadow Knights?

Squire Gristle performed the penance quest without issue.
