Default Pet attack range again

With the recent patch pets attck range was reduced ... Why ??
This is, pardon my french, totally BS. You have to practically stand on mobs to get pet to attack.

I really think you misunderstood what was posted Haynar.
Pets have never had this short attack range on live servers

I sincerely hope this is part of the upcomming patch you mentioned in other threads, cause its very annoying.

The range at which pets attack mobs on live is 200. That is not standing on top of a mob. So never is now. So you are incorrect.

The mob can be anywhere in the zone, for you to add the mob to the pet's aggro list. When the mob gets within range 200, pet will go chase it down.

Pet will hold any mob on it's aggro list, if you tell it to attack, until that mob is dead or you issue a pet back off.

The mechanics are working the same as live.

The range it was previously for pets to attack was 250. That was to do anything. If mob was >250, the pet ignored the attack command, and would never attack.

The system currently in place is far superior to what it was.

I have no plans to make changes, so you can sit 400 or 500 range, away from a mob and have the pet attack.

I was asked to look at pet mechanics. I looked at them. I found them lacking. I improved them greatly. Making pet classes more over powered, so they can sit half way across the zone while their pets kill things, is not on my agenda.

Believe me Haynar, in many cases the range check is bugged, if its supposed to be 200.

I have tried it several times, both soloing and grouping. You run fairly close by a mob. still safe from agro but just barely. (This is tried on eg. Seafurry Cyclopses). You Issue a "Pet attack" ... nothing happens, you move a bit closer, issue a new "pet attack" .. no reaction still.
First when you are at the the border of the mobs "agro range" Pet reacts "taunting attacker" and charges the mob.

I'm not a specialist in knowing if this is 15, 20 or 25 range that this happens, but i know it is by no means "close" to 200 range.

I am agreeing totally with you that the way you think you made pets work is the way the Should work. This is however not how they actually Do work. There is something borked up

I have begun thinking if its a coding error, or maybe server lag ? ..
Cause you could think that pet is just very slow in reacting on the "attack" command, just like /assist seems awfully slow sometimes ... like its not always the MA that is slacking [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Other than that ... great work on the pet guard feature

I will look at the /pet attack behavior and see what is going on.
