This issue is so highly overblown. Yes, there might be a few people around either with so much money or so few brains that they spend hundreds or thousands on P99 gear, but it seems far more likely that there are a few guys around with $40 to buy themselves an FBSS and a weapon when they start on the server.

From what I can tell, Platlord has become a sort of clearing house. He buys excess platinum from players and sells it. Is he making a little bit of cash with his 50% markup? Sure, maybe. Is he making thousands a month? That seems like a stretch, but maybe. Tens of thousands? That seems highly doubtful. Is it coming from TMO officers with their thorough accounting of everything and dozens of players in guild paying attention? That seems like the most doubtful thing of all.

Sure, we all see someone once in a while with gear that makes no sense for how much they suck at the game, but that could easily be someone's friend or family. I can think of many people from my real life that I'd happily powerlevel and twink up and they'd be a clueless scourge to their level 30-something groups afterwards and likely accused of RMT. From where I sit, the accusation of RMT seems much, much more common that the actual event.

It seems I see/hear about people getting banned for RMT at least once a week. So, how is this guy still in business? Or does he just have a mass amount of clients? It would seem not too difficult to track. Just look at the logs that have people getting all that PP, in trade for nothing to them.

Do you never transfer platinum or items between characters? I have five characters on three accounts and I frequently move high value items between them. I moved my BCG and a hiero cloak to my twink enchanter last week or the week before and I did it through a friend's level one EC mule. Three of my characters are good for farming and I frequently move platinum between them when I'm gathering funds for a big purchase.

If this task were easy, the staff would have already done it. You do them and their efforts a disservice by pretending it would be simple to solve complex problems.

While I somewhat agree, how does one guy have so many items in stock and have millions of platnium while running the show by himself. There is no way he does the business and farms the plat and items alone as one person. I'm not pointing TMO finger at all. But cmon. Something is fishy. I wouldnt be suprised if he makes over a 1,000 a day, ive personally seen people pay $400 at a time. That's in 10 minutes.

RMT does seem to be thrown around alot more than it should, every new mmo out now is just about pay 2 win. I really dont see it being that big of a issue if there is only 1 major supplier. A year ago or so there were tons of people selling for RMT but all their mules were wiped and banned, Platlord had a few mules who didn't get touched and was able to recover.

These forums is whats causing more damage to this server than anything else. Live wasn't all discussed on a forum. It was dealt with in game and guilds came to understandings.

Do you think those big sales are common? I'm not surprised they happen, but who has hundreds of dollars to spend on virtual items? Maybe I'm way off on this. I just thought that it would be unlikely for there to be many big ticket buyers with our population of two or three thousand active players. I'm a pretty straight shooter and I can be naive about things sometimes.

Those kinds of transfers are very common in my experience. I'm sure I've transferred millions of platinum for people, and I don't ever transfer for people I don't know.
