I like JJ. Even though the latest two films were terrible representations of the Star Trek universe, they had managed to be an extremely enjoyable fantasy regardless.

That's the key, fantasy. JJ does really good fantasy works and that's exactly what Star Wars is, not science fiction but rather a space opera.

Also he's a legit die hard Star Wars fan so with any luck there will not be anything even approaching JarJar/Ewoks.

the African American actor the same characters as the boy ezra (star wars rebels ) make friend with at the academy (cant remember the episode of the top of me head)

would make sense as he would have trained as a storm trooper.

I've had to spend the last 15 years of my life as a die hard star trek fan thanks to the phantom menace.

dunno, i saw 1-3 in theatres and each time i didnt leave disappointed. like someone said before me though, i aint the type of nerd who knows the mass of a xwing or the temperature of a light sabre.

acting was bad in that some shit felt forced as fuck (the romance and turning evil) but...

i am more fascinated with the star wars universe as a whole than any one single character. I guess thats why i can tolerate the bad acting. probably why I enjoy the matrix so much as well. hell even eq, i think the game itself is garbage but I love the world.

JJ mentioned in an earlier article that he though about putting Jarjar's bones in a desert seen and only a real hard core fan would recognize it.

Trailer was okay, wouldn't call it particularly special.

Vader was a badass, he force choked everybody.

I can't disagree that new Star Trek is at least fun and watchable, unlike the last few Star Wars films. The shallowness those movies draw upon to be fun has rendered them pretty forgettable though.

The newest trailer for Star Wars: Diversity Strikes Back has actually awakened a tiny, TINY twinge of hope in my loins. I'll probably give massa 10 more shekels to be reinvested in further self-genocidal psyops so I can see this dumb movie like the rest of you dumb plebs.
