Not a fan of NBG outside of guild. I would probably drop group if I was in a PuG that demanded it, and I'll explain from personal experience why.

Back when I was first leveling Castigate I got into an amazingly lucky FM giant fort group. This was back when the GER was still dropping in late 2012. I think that it wasn't supposed to drop anymore at the time but still was? Anyways I was in a group with some guys that I had grouped with a bunch before, we were all noobs with pretty much no gear and had agreed to NBG stuff. Now at that particular camp this was a huge advantage to our monk and warrior, being the only 2 that would need a GER if it dropped; and it did, for both of them. 2 GERs in about 4-6 hours out there, and they went need to our warrior and monk as the rest of the group was all casters. At the time I was fine with this. Sure it would have been nice to get the 7k it was selling for and upgrade literally every slot, but I had grouped with these guys before and we were all bros.

2-3 days later I was in EC and the warrior was selling his GER. A ring he had been given by the group with trust, and a ring that could have been traded in the exact same manner to buy upgrades by anyone else in the group.
Dunno what the monk did with his, and it doesn't really matter. It was a good lesson, and in fact I've always valued that much higher than the 7k item which should have been rolled for.

TLDR: item = plat = item(s), therefore everyone "needs" everything. Don't get too hung up on getting an item from the source, we've been in Kunark so long that anything can pretty easily be converted to anything else of similar value in EC.

Hah, I was the monk in that group. I still have the ring you gave me. ANNNDDDDDDDD IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII WIIILLLLLLLLLL ALLLLLWWAAAAYYYYYSSS LOOOVVVVEEEE YOUUUUUUUUUUU.

I didn't know the warrior sold his, lame. If we hadn't done nbg I probably would've been annoyed but dealt with it. OP seems pretty upset and probably regrets his post now.

Could you explain this logic? Because I don't see any difference in trading a Bonecaster Robe for some Mithril Greaves, and selling it for 3k and putting that plat towards an upgrade like an SCD, Gauntlets of Potence, etc. In both situations you're rolling on an item you can't immediately use to trade/sell for an upgrade to your character... so why is one situation okay but the other makes you a "selfish little bitch?" They're both literally the same thing.

Anything that can be traded should be /rand IMO for reasons explained above, and as a caster myself I'd never expect a group to NBG a robe.

It can be frustrating, but this is old school EQ: this game IS flawed.

Hate NBG. No need for it. Items are highly liquid.
