The "appalling PMs" is obviously a smokescreen to excuse his abandoning the project. It's so transparent. Can't respect a guy who has to try and save face instead of being a man and giving his community the honesty they deserve. Anyone with any sense has seen this shit for the vaporware it is for years now, but he still shouldn't lie to the people who were being patient and loyal to him. That whole "I'm gonna do custom content" thing was probably just contrived to create an atmosphere that would let him feel justified in quitting.

Yeah, fuck it, I am going to work on the trilogy client again.

https://github.com/SecretsOTheP/ is where I will be working on finishing a 'classic client' emulator if anyone is interested in continuing the whole 'lol look at the classic UI' thing. It's going to stay open source. That way, if I or another developer that decides to contribute get a mental breakdown the work is not lost forever.

The most important part of this being that it will work in conjunction with current EQEmulator clients so you have a choice of using any other EQEmulator client such as Titanium. With the way the networking code is set up (quite hackishly, i'll admit) you can communicate with an EQ Titanium client alongside an EQ Mac or EQ Trilogy client.

First things first, I'm going to write a DirectX7 DLL wrapper that causes the client to not go into fullscreen or convert the application into a fullscreen windowed application. Anyone who was in EQClassic's testing should know that it was one of their major issues - the client not functioning on modern hardware without tweaks being a close second.

I do not know why they were having problems with their network layer, though I suspect it was related to their rewrite of the dinosaur that was EQEmu 0.2.3's Networking. The exact issue? Couldn't tell ya because I don't have the source.

The current client that the source works with is the EQMac client. I am planning to move to the Trilogy client as soon as I can get it out of Fullscreen.
I remember you were looking for a version of EQWindows to do that. Could you just roll your own with C#?

I've yet to try this but it came up in a Google search as an idea. Encapsulating the parent window *may* work but I dunno how DX7 handles modern windows so that's what I am researching now. Doesn't hurt to try, however.

I barely have any idea what this means, but it gave me a boner.

YL speaks..

I am not leaving because some socially-bankrupt nobodies were spewing off written diarrhea; I have been tolerating this for years--give me a break. I am leaving because their tidal wave of shit reminded me of the majority makeup of this community (those mostly residing outside of the few dedicated followers left on this forum).

I have stated a number of times that I am not interested in playing this game ever again. The only reason I considered making a server is because there was an expectation for one, but clearly it is either classic content or bust. I do not possess the rights to host a classic content server, the feedback for a custom server was poor and there is absolutely nothing of educational value remaining in the source.

Returning to this after a six-month break is just impossible for me to get excited about now. Why is this so difficult to understand?

There he goes again with the whole 'I do not possess the rights to host a classic content server' This guy KNEW from the get go he would NEVER get sonys good graces, its more about the last line of this statement:

He should of just been honest and left it at that, trying to blame people for negative feedback is so lulz worthy
