Hydra's aren't used that commonly in gameplay that I've seen. People either swarm zerglings, roaches, or broodlords generally. Corrupters / Queens are the usual zerg counters to air attacks.

Hydras are a lot more common now in PvZ, and see some use in ZvZ depending on spawn locations and openers. However it's not remotely as common as 3hatch/5hatch hydra in broodwar.
