They are, but it's still worthwhile to study them as to why they suck as incredibly bad as they do. It is patently obvious even to *fans* of these franchises that the sequels\prequels will suck, but yet they are made.

And it's not just for money, because if they suck bad enough they lose millions of dollars for the studio.
