You're right, it's not just about you personally. However, surely you can understand how frustrating it is to be a non-raider and see the raiders enjoying a non-classic timeline while my wizard gets the shaft, so to speak. The "it's classic" argument kind of breaks down. It's hard not to see that as unfair.
your wizard can med without a book, which is an enhancement that does not occur within the timeline of P99

you are benefiting directly from a non-classic feature

The easy fixes happen to be directly quoted in patch notes. Something anyone can CTRL+F for in the Tski database.

Whereas the timelines for item upgrades are rarely mentioned in patch notes. You have to check each individual item, by going through several guild's archived updated and hope they have screenshots or go through several captures of the item listed on Everlore, Allakhazam, EQStratic, etc. Checking to see when the stats changed and to what.

... It is quite clear why one was implemented and the other was not. Please do not complain about what Velious is like if you were not one of those researching or beta testing. I get rather annoyed by people complaining about the state of things at launch when they made no effort themselves to bug report or beta test over the more than 1 year the beta server sat up.
The issue with wizard spells was a mistake on Verant/SOE's part. It was fixed with time.

The issue with loot drops in various velious raids not being appropriate (or being totally left out, such as PoG) was a mistake on Verant/SOE's part. It was fixed with time.

Why are we making a difference between them, when doing so will cause a discrepancy that favors certain players over others?

It doesn't make any sense.

We should be able to run trains too, I remember back playing live I would run trains on newbies all the time and GM's would come over because the newbies would petition and they'd sit there and laugh with me and be like "this is actually the best game mechanic ever" and one time a GM egged me on to train a party because they were being dicks when we petitioned saying so. He showed up and said "well just train that party, they'll wipe and prolly not come back due to extreme frustration".

The live GM's were all players too, but they never told anybody which players they were, it was good times back on EQ Live.

I remember being a newbie wizard in Nektulos minding my business meditating in my spellbook and all of a sudden getting smashed by like 4 or 5 skeletons from someone's train. Even though it was frustrating at times, it became an expectation of the game, and it was hilarious. When did that get removed? Is it something to do with the client, or did it actually get removed from p99? I would love to see that game mechanic again even though I know I will get frustrated from time to time.

That oversight is the #1 problem on these servers today. I can barely bring myself to play as a caster since total immersion is impossible without forced book medding.
