P99 a Classic Server?

If P99 is making everyone use Classic Character models because its a classic server then we all should have to use the Classic UI as well then.

We can dream!

Once they require that UI many issues on the server will be resolved. One of the best things about classic EQ was the client/restrictions of the UI!

We also need to ensure that people aren't using a broadband connection to achieve non-classic levels of bandwidth. Limit all client transmissions to and from the P99 servers to 2.5kb/sec, and disable server-side filtering until it is added on the classic timeline:

http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20010327.html

"Added server-side filtering for chat and combat messages. This will allow you to turn off guild chat, shouts, auctions, oocs, 'my misses', 'others misses', 'others hits', 'attacker misses me', PC spells (all options), NPC spells and Bard songs (all options) at the server instead of at the client. This can reduce that amount of data sent to you over your connection, and can help those with slower connections with better performance and connectivity."

cable modems or ISDN lines were available back then and notorious requirements for uber guilds.

Yeah I had a sweet connection during classic. If I had had a better computer then I could have joined a more advanced guild. Just depended on where you lived. San diego had high speed available through a lot of is various counties.

So limit it to 10kb/sec instead, which was probably about the average throughput rate in 2000 and 2001. Server side filtering would still need to go.

Also they relaxed their connection requirements between 2000 (ISDN link) and 2001 (cable modems link). Obviously ISDN and Cable modems were not required after server-side filtering was implemented.

Keep it classic; remove server-side filtering and rate-limit connections.

I was able to download multiple movies at a time. Get of of here with your weak memory and weaker internet connections.
