DAOC: Origins - New Server

ugh, yesterday I went link dead in the uplands, just logged in and immediately was surrounded by celts wacking me to pieces, then the server reset lol

hey, for my alt i'm sort of torn between a warrior and a skald, either Kobold or possibly dwarf.
which one is the most straight forward with minimal buttons and stuff to juggle, I do enough of that on my sav lol

could a kobold skald work on this server or would that be silly?

at least there is action in rvr! I didn't find a single soul for 2 days on my inf.

There's always been action RvR, it's just lacked Albs up until yesterday for the most part. Hence some of us on Mid and fewer Hibs pushing past RR5. Can't say the same for stealther wars, spent 3 hours @ AMG earlier and only saw a single Inf the entire time.

I don't see what the problem is. the more players people have on other realms = more pvp for you.. they will even out eventually

Is there anyone else who is just starting up and looking for other players to group up with on a steady basis? I'm personally in the EST, but I run with quite a few euros also.

Two of my friends just started 2 Runemasters (Midgard Wizards) and I'll be making a new char to try out and level with them. If you're interested just pm me ingame on Jude, or reply to this post here. The 2 runies are; Nugis and Origin.

Also, our guild only accepts shorties (kobolds), midgets (dwarves), and circus people (aka short ass trolls)!

All of these problems have led to the situation we're in: Our population is back to where it was years ago. The player count is dropping day by day and there isn't really anything good we could tell you about this. We want to get these things straight now. That's why we have decided to shut down the server until we have worked this out. We do not want to offer an incomplete server any longer. We want to focus on all of the current problems as fast as possible, which is not possible with a running server that needs to be supported.

There have been many suggestions from the community about how to solve the problems mentioned above. Unfortunately there is no easy way to get to more balanced and consistent structures in the game. We have tried to find solutions in the past and they have all failed. In order to offer a good DAoC experience in the future, we have come to the conclusion that the best thing for the server is a fresh start. You can trust us that this is a once in a lifetime occurrence and its not easy for us. We know it is hard for all of you, our loyal players, and we feel with you! However nobody wants an empty server. Newcomers must be included into the community and they must have the feeling to stand a chance. For DAoC to work, a crowded server is important. We will focus on missing features to be in good shape for a big comeback. After this we will see which alliances, guilds or players will spread the most fear among their enemies!

The Uthgard game server will be closed on Monday, January 27th, at 01:00 CET and we will start a major revamp. We can't give you any estimated date when the server will be back online, because we don't know. We will announce on Facebook and will send e-mails to forum and game users when the server is ready. Our goal remains delivering the highest quality pre-ToA, pre-NF, classic DAoC gameplay for you.

Wow. They're shutting down the server, supposedly fixing the things that they've ignored for years, and when it comes back it will be completely wiped.

So basically Origins launched last week, Uthgard's population plummeted, players told them why they're moving to Origins, and they decide to shut down the server and wipe it if and when it comes back.

In other words, they had no competition for all this time and so didn't give a shit, and now that they have competition they see they're fucked.
