Part of me thinks that selling chars should be allowed, but name changes should be disallowed. I think thats the best option, because like stated above, on classic you couldn't simply /petition and have your name changed. Your name was who you were, and people would know whether to group with you or train you. IMO if you want to buy a char you should have to stick with the name it has. Also you should not be able to change your first name, because your reputation should stick with you for the entirety of your play. This is a very social/community based game and simply changing your name can really effect that.

That being said, I really don't care that much whether they disallow or allow any of this. I don't find myself in Kedge saying, man I wish people weren't changing their names right now. So, whatever happens is fine with me, but personally I think name changes shouldn't be allowed.

I don't lose sleep over it either, but the thing that concerns me is the rapid growth of these exchanges. Over the past month or so it has gone from no accounts listed, to a few here and there, to Bob's toon consignment...

Just seems like a silly thing to openly allow is all.

Agreed.

I agree with nalkin, selling and buying chars in mmo's was always around. Banning it from this forum would just take the traffic to another forum(and the small revenue from impressions), which happens to be happening with RMT. Name changing is whatever. You can't hide douchebag, but if I had to pick a side I'm against it.

A level 50 that just asks for a name change? I don't usually allow it.

Besides, it seems like the selling of characters just adds to everything that's wrong with the server.

Level a solo class quickly to 50, farm plat/drops, twink/PL/buy an alt for main.

Why encourage more of it?

I don't think name changes should be allowed, period. GMs have enough on their plates as it is, let alone have to deal with bullshit like IP exemptions (My "wife" wants to play) and raid babysitting. The only reason they should change someones name is if its offensive.

This would also be the classic rule. Another classic rule would be not allowing characters to be sold for platinum.
