I don't want to get in trouble for this post, but I've known a few people who died from Fentanyl and were brought back to life that said ... it felt good to die that way. And not to be scared etc. because it doesn't hurt and feels amazing.
For me personally though... my main goal would be to insure that my body is never found. Not just out of respect for my family, but being a missing person whose sudden inexplicable disappearance is mysterious would be kind of cool. Hike deep into the mountains and strap on a backpack full of rocks and wade out into a river etc. There's also other weird things you could do but I'm pretty sure I would get banned for even mentioning them. The only reason I've even thought about things like this is because I've studied a lot of missing persons cases, and also remember a case where they found a dead person in a politicians backyard, but authorities swore it was a suicide even though the person had been shot in the back of the head etc. IDK. Definitely ways you could become an unexplained mystery if that's something that interests you. Not to encourage this type of behavior, but I think when a person is genuinely terminal that the topic is more understandable. Nursed a relative who had cancer until the day they died and remember them wishing for death and suffering really bad. Was a pretty helpless situation and I would have been relieved if they had a way to humanely end their suffering early etc.

just going "missing" always seemed turbo fucked to me because without that closure their always gonna have some hope you walk through the front door or someshit.
better to rip the bandaid off for everyone involved if you don't want to wait for the movie to be over before getting up and leaving. the letters and messages for loved ones to read after are an asshole thing to do also, it's all just narcissism and main character syndrome, i woke up once to 20 text messages from someone deciding to check out and i didn't even read em just deleted it and glad i did.

Secondly, I'm not close with any of my family, most of my friends are people I play WoW with and don't know IRL. I don't think anyone would really be that devastated if I just went missing, but co workers and what not would probably be really confused. I'm also a fan of that kind of youtube video. I think mysteries like this are fun for the community honestly. By this same metric you could argue that anyone who speeds on the interstate, any soldier who volunteers to go to war or police officer, fire fighter, construction worker etc. who serves in a dangerous job is also a narcissist because imagine how devastating it would be for their families if they died etc. Seems a little hyperbolic. Edit: I am close with a single relative, who again, would prob be more devastated if they found me dead than rather if I just went missing. In the past I've gone 5 years without contacting them and they never once thought anything bad happened to me and that I was just off doing my own thing etc.

Suicide often happens with people who are in a state of defeat and/or 'arrested flight', the perception that there is no viable course of action-- like a gazelle in jaws of a lion. Usually depression is involved, not always. Either way, when we are in that state, we are spectacularly unqualified to actually objectively consider all our options. Your state of mind acts like a prism that refracts thoughts, facts, judgment-- and makes it all lead to death when it otherwise wouldn't. Get help. Believe it or not, modern medicine does have interventions that can pull you out of this, in a way that will surprise and amaze you when you look back on it.

Sorry I thought you were literate enough with attention span to maybe read the first page. I don't think self righteous is the right word.
