It would be nice if on live they made a list of the unfinished or broken quests. Or could at least confirm certain quests. Would be nice to see what was intended for the Tome of Ages.

Symbols in Lake Rathe are all over the place. A GM event from last year is how a few people on the server got titles, essentially we had to determine and research the possible meaning of the symbols including finding other instances of them. Ultimately it looks like they're part of a calendar foretelling of future events that came true throughout the history of EQ and EQII. There's debate about the ultimate meaning but I personally think it has to do with Mayong Mistmoore ascending to god status.
Here's a link to the thread with a large portion of the work people did outside of game, the event was truly awesome and Mixxit did a great job. http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...ghlight=sunder

I've never understood the Bunny of Neriak. It's interpreted as a collective of divine symbols, one for each of the elder gods - Veeshan, Tunare, Prexus and Brell Serilis in the center to represent the the first covenant, with the darker gods left outside. The bunny itself is supposedly Veeshan's symbol.
So, why does Veeshan's symbol crown Neriak's gates? Neriak is a totalitarian state that demands Innoruuk worship. House Thex, the royal house ruled by Queen Cristanos* and King Naythox*, demands that the elite of the nation practice the arts most pleasing to the Prince of Hate - namely, Necromancy and divine magic - and those who do not are outcasts at best. I fail to see why the tier'dal would use the symbol of any other god, especially a symbol that shows Innoruuk's exclusion from the covenant, a decision made by the elder gods which resulted in civil war on Norrath and in the planes for centuries. *The true ruler of Neriak is a subject of debate. Some NPCs, when asked, will answer based on their faction - Indigo Brotherhood and Ebon Mask tend to serve the King, while The Dead, the Spires and all devout Innoruuk worshippers serve the Queen. I obviously hold with the Queen. Because she's sexy.

I thnk that there was a major lore overhaul either late in alpha or early in beta, which accounts for a lot of the oddities; particularly with Neriak and its plethora of dragon-related statues and sigils; and the odd styling of the Lodge of the Dead.
I imagine that the Neriak Royal Palace (neriakd) would have been similarly in the pseudo-oriental theme. Good luck tracking down information on it now, though.

Everquest has always had the best lore, one of the many things that made me want to come back after all these years. Still the best Mmorpg ever made.
