I have a news flash for some in this thread: you all love socialism (some of the time)! Don't believe me?

When your house is burning down, do you want the fire department to show up and say "well your house is worth $300k ... so for a mere 20%, just $60k, we'll save your house!" Because that's how a capitalist fire department works. Believe it or not, you like having a socialist fire department.

When someone breaks into your house, do you want the cops to show up and say "sorry we can't help: you didn't pay for police protection this month?" Because that's a capitalist police department works; you like the socialist kind.

We could keep going with everything else the government does for you: roads, military defense, food safety, ensuring anyone can get treated at ERs, etc.

Ultimately it's not "capitalism/socialism is good/bad" ... it's "capitalism/socialism is a better/worse system for handling ______". And in truth, capitalism is a lot better, for a lot of systems ... but certainly not all.
