"unresolved" quests

Ok I found my way to Carson McCabe, but he doesn't seem to respond to anything. He's listed as a quest NPC on Allakhazam, but doesn't have any quests linked to him.

I'm tempted to hand him the two staff segments. But he might eat them.

otherwise, I think the guy in Tox might be able to fix the staff for us. Because he's the guy that makes the Peacekeepers staff, which is from the quest leading to this quest.

Also, I can't get to Brollus Hoost in Kithicor, because Kithicor has undead walking around day and night. So we have to wait till Kithicor is fixed.

And I have no idea how we were supposed to know about Brollus or Tallus (or the staff segments) yet if you follow the quest line.

Our only bit of information that should help us further at the moment is:

Lumi Stergnon says 'In the mountain keep called High Hold, we have heard there is a person hiring mercenaries for an attempt to obtain a High Guard battle staff. We are missing one of our staffs and believe this person has it. Go to Highpass Hold and find this person. Return the High Guard battle staff to me!'

On Allakhazam they jump straight to Tallus in East Karana, which means they skipped at least one step. I'm sure we are supposed to talk with Lady McCabe first (but she hasn't spawned), because she seems to be the one who hired Brollus Hoost to steal the staff as a gift for Carson McCabe, possibly to fix their relationship, considering Mistress Anna.

Did you try asking the weapons collector something about his collecting? "What kind of weapons do you collect?" "I hear you are a weapons collector?" etc.

I was always very intrigued by these unsolved quests of vanilla EQ. Especially the ones revolving around the mysterious Unkempt Druids and their strife with the Surefall druids. Jale Phlintoes in South Karana remains one of the most interesting NPCs in original EQ.

I have always suspected these two quests being somehow linked: The Nitrates and the Assassin and The Unkempt Druids. A possible third connection could be this one: Solvedi Scimitar because it is directly related to the Unkempt Druids, and the quest reward is slightly inferior to the turn in quest items...

I think someone originally planned for druids to have the option of choosing sides with the Unkempt at the expense of Surefall Glades faction. With possible rewards in store...

Good idea, I'll try that with Carson McCabe sometime. However, according to the quest line we are not supposed to know about McCabe or his collection of weapons yet. All we know is that someone in HHK is hiring mercenaries to get the weapon.

I was waiting for Lady McCabe to spawn to ask about mercenaries and of course the staff. Since I'm pretty sure she is the one hiring mercenaries. I also thought of somehow trying to find out her real name and asking around in Erudin. "Lady McCabe" sounds so secret. I don't think Lady is her first name and she got her last name from Carson. The guy giving the quest in Erudin didn't respond to "Lady McCabe".

Misstress Anna isn't very helpful either. If you ask her about "Lady McCabe", she tells me to not mention her name. Maybe she is hiring the mercenaries though, but Lady McCabe is eritude and Anna doesn't like eritudes. So Anna wouldn't want to give an eritude staff to Carson I think.

If anyone reads about this quest, don't kill any named quest NPC in HHK please, especially not Lady McCabe :P

I had to kill "a maid" in the balcony room to get Lady McCabe to spawn, which gives a faction hit to "HighHoldCitizens", so you don't want to do this too often. I went to apprehensively with some NPC in high hold.

If I go to the Allakhazam page for this quest (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=137) it says this should happen:

You say, 'Tell me about the staff segments'
Lady McCabe says 'I have no idea what you are talking about. Battle staff.. Hmmm.. No, it does not ring a bell.'

But when I say that, she doesn't respond to me.

Also, I gave her one of the staff segments, but she just ate it without saying anything.
I then went to the bank assistant with HK 401 to get the staff segment back, but she wouldn't take it. Probably because I still have had that other LORE staff segment.
I then gave the other staff segment to Lady McCabe, but she ate that also.
I then went to the bank assistant again to hand the key, since I didn't have any staff segments anymore, but she still would not take it...?
I then went to Lady McCabe and fed her the key also.

An emu server is probably not a good place to attempt to solve previously unsolved quests. Unless of course a dev specifically said that they added made up quests for this server, which they wouldn't since it would be considered custom content.

Don't get me wrong, back in the day I had all sorts of theories about a bunch of mysterious NPCs in the game as well. But I would hate to see you spend days working on something that simply isn't implemented here.

You're absolutely right guineapig, the intend of this thread was to ask if it was possible to finish this quest or not. Aeolwind said he would look into it, but hasn't come back with an answer as of yet.

Interesting - you never mentioned anything about a "battle staff" or the end result, you asked about the segments. Maybe you're supposed to call her out on that!

I think you got it then!! Npcs on this server are like live where they give it back to you if it's the incorrect item!! She ate it because she's expecting something else. She needs other items
