For an fps? Nah I'd get a trackball. You can have both a mouse and trackball on the system at the same time. I use a pc playstation controller when I need a game controller, but not so great for fps games. You lose accuracy, but retain the long-term comfort as you would get with a trackball. Yet trackball has both comfort and accuracy for fps gaming. Mouse can be a little more accuate in the short-run, but for long periods of gaming you don't get the fatigue which means accracy doesn't degrade and imo even improves with the trackball.

It's really only poor if you have bad finger control. I shred guitars and type 60wpm, so I find the trackball a deadly instrument on the virtual battlefield.

New Vegas is a solid game, any of the bethesda classics are.

Steam link is pretty neat, I don't recommend the controller though.

New Vegas is fun but I've been logging my hours today on Civilization 5. I think it's my best purchase of this sale.

Hmm going to need a controller for New Vegas, as all the menus are designed for console as is most of the GUI mechanics... its been very taxing to a PC user.

Whats the best option?

Whats this steam link controller?

Xbox will be coming out with a Bluetooth enabled XB1 controller soon. I'd wait for that or if you prefer PS4 controller can go that route. As someone who uses a trackball mouse you would think that the steam controller would fit right in but for playing games i couldnt get use to not actually having a joystick for my right thumb. So returned that.

The Steam controller is pretty different from a normal controller. Normal controllers usually have a D-pad and two joysticks. The Steam Controller has a D-pad, only one joystick, and a trackpad.

The idea is that the Steam controller lets you play games where you'd normally want a mouse (like Civ) by providing a trackpad. The problem is the trackpad works really poorly at simulating a mouse. And because the Steam controller doesn't have two analog joysticks, it's basically unusable for games where you need two joysticks (like Rocket League or Dark Souls).

Appreciate the response.

So just go with an XBOX ? Is it plug n play? Or is there a required software system to download as well?

I was a PC purist my whole life but the best games just aren't designed for PC anymore.
