Bar epic mqs and for the most part this problem will be solved. So fuckin lame. I don't care if it's not classic, neither were level 1 clerics with epics. Unfortunately this will go on forever, so, stop being lame, don't purchase it, and do your epic yourself. Will destroy the market and you will have earned it. I mean, when else in your life are you going to earn your epic?

You heard it here first, in a thread about virulent Ragefire behavior.

All the potential problems associated with MQ were obvious to Rogean and posse from before this server existed. They choose to implement it knowing full well what type of player(s) it would attract and how they would behave. Like many things, it's another tool to garner interest in the server.

As far as I am concerned, they sold out so that others would buy in - and when questioned about it, they hide behind 'it's classic' argument every time. Meanwhile white knighters (whom are the very people benefiting from MQ the most) defend MQ and similar features, not for the purpose of staying 'classic,' but so they can keep raking in new assets.

If nothing else, remove MQ. It's not going to solve everything, but it's a start and it's a peace gesture from the team.

Meanwhile, open a new server without any of the nonsense and let the remaining greed machines go onto Velious on this server. They can all fight over pixels while the rest of us start fresh with good intentions.

I still get what is classic about level 1's running around with epics. Classic mechanics are important, I get it, but what's more important to me is a classic experience. Just further proof that we are incapable of self governing and self control. My question is how much is enough plat? Eh, whatever, time to get back to poop socking rage fire lol.

Except for a few small instances (ivandyr's hoop comes to mind :P) classic mechanics have always taken precedence over classic feel. Nilbro's rules.

edit: cuz classic feel is highly subjective, mechanics are not.

Ok, won't even start an argument there, cuz there is no end to it. What about the last question. How much is enough plat? I mean, once you get into the multi millions what is there to even do with it all?

I think you assume too much. Alot of people have tons of alts that require alot of plat and administration to keep up with the raid scene, Recharges, consumables etc... Sometimes its hard just to maintain it all. Now you might be sitting there thinking first world problems and to an extent you are right but that's how i chose to play. You can ask the multitude of people that i have helped and given things to on the server including epics, items, plat, etc... just because people farm does not make them greedy, if i want more plat that's my business.

The great thing about everquest is it is open to alot of playstyles and it was never a game that was forgiving, no matter what you do it will always be about the Have's and the Have not's they have nerfed alot of different farming tools that i use to use and you know what ? i evolve and find something else. We all came back to this game for a reason, The epics being mqable might be your crusade today but keep in mind that it might bring someone else to the game that is expecting that because it was classic, who are you to tell them they are wrong for playing the way they want.

I hope this did not come off as hostile just a reminder we shouldn't be close minded to other peoples play-styles just because it does not always align with our own.

There comes a point where you must either declare cult status for "preserving classic eq in any way possible" as you stroke off McQuaid in the back seat of his minivan, or you admit that a lot of classic mechanics are fucking pathetic and should have been fixed 15 years ago. Did you miss the part about the original devs admitting as much?

This is NOT classic EQ, this server is NOT classic EQ, we are not living in the year 2000 playing on our 15" CRTs spraying out eye cancer during our 4am play sesh's. I am not rocking a 500mhz P3 and a gateway mechanical mouse that can barely scroll sideways on account of the multiple layers of encrusted spunk on the wheel. I don't have to refer to printed/hand drawn maps to navigate any zone this side of Velious. I do not hail the efreeti in ToSR. Classic EQ involved gathering a huge group of friends and trying your best to down some difficult epic content, spending long hours camping rare named spawns as you slammed your face against the wall because your classes version of Raster would not spawn. People did not MQ their epics when Kunark was released.

Most of us earning it with "how much plat do I need to shit out to make that happen?" All I see are Karnors groups that tell their epicless monk puller to go fuck himself six ways from Tuesday because the pipe is greed and they are going to MQ it. Usually the monk loses the roll. I have seen Mistmoore groups reject a rogue from joining because they didn't have their epic at lvl 23. I have seen people camping one of their epic named have the camp stolen by another class who wants the MQ platz. If this is classic EQ, then Im not sure what I was playing back in 1999-2000.

*sniff* It gets mightly lonely camping rogue MQs all day.

Does classic mechanics + unclassic playerbase = classic "server" though? Or is there a medium that we have yet to reach for optimal classic fappibility?
