I think making an iksar will make things more difficult for me to reach EC to consider swapping out for another toon.

But I am looking through all my others I've played so far and here they are....

15 Human Bard
18 High Elf Cleric
22 High Elf Enchanter
19 Halfling Druid
17 Half Elf Paladin
15 Barbarian Warrior

I've spent way too much time playing the game of EC and not enough of EQ heh

You're playing just like I played on live... lots of lvl 10-40 alts with the funnest part being the buying and selling to equip a new toon. I never raided, never guilded.

This time around on p1999 I got 60 and joined a raiding guild etc but both playstyles are valid and very fun. Note that they're very different in terms of immediate gratification vs. long-term reward. It can be hard to switch gears actually.

You cannot go wrong with an Iksar sir.
Especially as a Necromancer. Do not make my mistake. If you start a Necro, go Iksar! Or go Human for Bertoxxulous, because he's an awesome god, but realistically, go Iksar! The old Necro wiki didn't point out the real advantage being an Iksar gives you, so I rolled a DE, and leveled up. Got Lich, and Demi-Lich, and have regretted it ever since. I'd race change in a heartbeat if I could transfer my no-drops.

I think I have to go Iksar because I have NEVER played one or leveled in Kunark, ever. So my choices are monk (which I hesitate due to a lack of haste on any melee) and Necromancer which I could setup pretty solidly... I think what might make me commit to a toon solidly is drop all my plat on like a Jboots MQ because then I HAVE to play that toon lol.

It's a solid option, I'll probably go with it. It's also my highest level toon.

I have a (slightly) different perspective ... which results in the same answer others have given. You said that your problem was the "ooo shiny" issue of liking all the different classes/aspects of EQ. I really think some classes let you experience more aspects of EQ than others, and as an alt addict I think you'd do best with one of them.

IMHO the following are the most multi-dimensional classes:

Bard
Druid
Enchanter
Necromancer
Shaman

Out of your list of existing alts, that leaves:

15 Human Bard
22 High Elf Enchanter
19 Halfling Druid

Your Enchanter is the highest, and you eeny-meeny-ed it, and it is arguably the most powerful class in the game, so that really seems like your best bet. But if for whatever reason you don't want an Enchanter main, all three can solo or group, are multi-dimensional, and can farm gear/plat for your future alts, so there's no wrong choice between them.

This. This doesn't require any EC investment.

Don't fret about haste for a melee class, especially a monk. Sure it's nice, but it isn't necessary at all, unless you're trying to level as fast as possible. 23/28 Wu's Staff is hasty enough. I've got a level 35 human monk that soloed most of the way there with little more than a Wu's Staff and I'm not really interested in getting him haste until I can get a free sky belt anyway.

I'd wait on the JBoots until you can camp a ring or you know for sure you want to play that toon as 73% of your bankroll is quite a bit to drop on a luxury item. Sow pots are cheap anyway.
