If a high, or any, level group gets a necro just for feeding mana, that's a horribly played group.

QFT, it'd be like adding an enchanter just for crack. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Play the class that you have more fun with. You'll burn yourself out playing a class you don't like just to be more "useful".
My monk (see sig) resents that statement.

Why does everyone who has a Warrior think they are even going to be the Main Raid Tank or even the fifth?? Ain't happening. Unless you start your own guild and be the MT you are shit out of luck. End of story. Play your Necro and be happy.
From the various raid guilds I've been in, all it takes is reliability and a little patience and you can flag yourself as an alternate. Before long people flake and you'll find yourself in the #1 position. Reliability is key, being raid MT isn't a pipe dream imo.

My point is more simply 50+ id like to not have a massive problem getting in groups
Neither warrior or necro have problem getting groups. Classes that have the most problems getting groups.. sk, pal, dru. Brd if the group is exp min/maxing and doesn't realize the utility. And wiz.

Just remember that the journey to max level is extremely long compared to most MMO's and for most people, it will be the majority of their playing time.

Don't get concerned about which classes are needed at 50+. Play what you find the most fun!

Also, if you are just starting, I feel that necro gear is much cheaper than warrior gear and will be better for farming a warrior alt later.

Necros have so much awesome utility. There have been times where healers were low in KC, and I'd just tank on my monk with a necro healing me and some bard/chanter slows and maybe some bard regen. Of course, that's not the ideal role, and certainly not something you'd be doing in 99% of situations. They are great at farming nice items in higher levels and good for soloing in the downtime when you can't find a group (unlike warriors, which, unless you have some really good gear, probably can't solo much at all).

Main point is, necros are a good class for people starting out.
Ah yeah, with how much stuff a "best of best" warrior needs in items alone. The cost can be quite insane. But as said, if you enjoy the class, it will come to you. Reliability and playtime is all it takes and if you enjoy your class both come naturally.

My advice to you would be level necro up first. Farm yourself a lot of PP. Then twink warrior out.
^2nded, what my brother did.

Either is a good choice and really if you like them both you should have hem both at 60 before long so the real question is which to take to 60 first. My first 60 toon on the server was a halfling war and I wouldnt change that if I could. Sure it was hard going at times but overcoming hardship is so much more rewarding when you do accomplish your goals. Sure necros can solo farm better but By the time my war was 60 I had hundreds of thousands of pp from levelling in groups in seb/kc/hs/freeti and doing other cash activities (like helping people with epic mobs where non epic loot is distributed to the group. Camping your own gear is usually more fun than farming for it anyway. More variety.

Warriors are used at every raid I can think of. Necros have much utility. Outside of the typical manabattery role they are also exceptionally good at getting FTE which on this server is pretty much the most important thing to end game raiding success next to camping out and tracking.

Either would be a solid first 60. Id suggest powering one to 60 before focusing on the 2nd one though.

This is EQ, there's no limits on how many you can zerg a raid target with so you don't have to worry about winning a spot based on usefullness. Just play whats fun to you.
