I thought this was basically the job description of Guide, along with helping people. And if it's not an exploit, then why despawn him?

I have never seen a community so quickly to rally for bannings and punishing the slightest malfeasance. I love it here.

Look, there's a big younger population out there right now and how you take care of business is going to reflect on how they behave later.

Do we want the next generation of high level characters to think it's ok to cheat until you remove the exploit, or do we want them in fear for their goddamn characters if they cheat?

On live, to prevent bind rushing they implemented respawning with zero mana on pvp deaths. On P1999 red, to prevent bind rushing they implemented experience loss on pvp deaths.

Apply that same type of troubleshooting, critical thinking, planning, and foresight to this scenario, and instead of a logical fix, you have NPC deleted from the game.

Sometimes I wish i was paying a subscription fee, just so I could cancel it on you.

Well, ya know, I suppose when you abide by the rules of the server and other people aren't and you know about it wouldn't you be a little bit disappointed also?

Oh I wasn't being sarcastic, I do genuinely love it. I love seeing a community that doesn't tolerate shit — especially when it's blatantly against the rules and goes unenforced. I would love to see a more strict enforcement of things.

I played a guide back on Live during Velious and for Live, things were pretty strict back then. I can tell you, I'd start right off with namechanges for about 30 characters I've already bumped into.

The GMs have set a precedence on banning people for breaking one of the rules. Whether good or bad, as long as you don't do something cool that you just found out about that isn't documented on Alla, then you should be fine.

*Insert joke about exploits being classic*

That rule being 2-boxing.

Even people who have run intensely invasive and advantageous 3rd party programs as a matter of course, have gotten their accounts (full of illegitimate items) handed right back to them. Hundreds of these accounts.

It is one thing to ban people for 2-boxing.

It's something completely different when you then DON'T ban hackers and exploiters.

I don't know the exact rules for Guides but I suspect Ephi is either taking some liberty with them when he sees people exploiting, and his reaction is to remove the source of the exploit rather than punish the offenders, or has received instructions from the developers or Ambrotos. (Er, who is server GM now that Ambrotos has been deployed?)

The only reason the undead bard was an exploit is because he is perma rooted upon spawning, which means root rot classes didnt need to root to DoT/nuke
