It's not necessarily that it's some terrible terrible evil. (Though i'm sure some people here think that way...) The thing is, on Live there were a few factors that made it ok: 1. To box you had to pay for more than one account (Until it went F2P. And even then, unless you play on Test, you still need to pay to enjoy the game...across all accounts). The extra costs over a game deterred people from making more than two, maybe three max, accounts to box. Unless they were either rich or willing to burn money over an MMO like that. This meant there was still grouping room. On P99, and EQEmu as a whole, there is no subscription fees. Unless they IP limit you, you are only limited by the clients your computer can handle. Considering WinEQ lets you use multiple eqclient.ini's to allow for one maxed graphical client and the others all at bare bones graphics, not to mention EQ could practically run on a Gameboy Advanced as it is, this usually means people can load like 20 toons. I heard of someone on PEQ that did like 40... That's well past "room for grouping" and into "lol I have my own guild and raid force". 2. The player base was MUCH larger on Live back then, and still is today. Not to mention people back then generally had less than stellar computers. With the lower EQEmu population and the rising availability of good PC hardware, allowing unrestricted boxing means people would never get to group. You'd be forced to box or solo. SEE: PEQ Server. As for why they don't Limit it to 2 or 3 toons and remove IP exemptions to ensure no one is taking advantage of them to box more? *shrug*. They just don't. That's what Nilbog wants so we kinda gotta deal with it. lol
