if the forums are this polluted with trolling/flaming, how then, would a 'forum-like' channel be any better on a server with dynamic chat(that is even harder to police) as opposed to static chat such as here?
You can easily turn off global /ooc or any chat channel through filters if you don't like seeing it because of "flaming or trolling" it's a voluntary action.

this idea is like a poster child example of how to take a good idea, remove any possible benefit, and pretend like you are doing something helpful

I agree. I was just expressing the kind of argument that would be put forth against global channels.

The counter-point to your counter-point, according to the previous debate(as made by players such as Zyrin) is that, if global ooc is used to reveal player locations, or other such information, then one doesn't have to be a part of global ooc to be affected by it, as such channels can be used against a player who is not even listening to the channel. By that reasoning, players would have to tune in to global ooc to determine if their location was being exposed publicly.

I don't really agree with that point(this IS a PvP server, and there should be inherent dangers, global ooc or no global ooc), but that's the argument that was made.

You know how difficult it is to /ignore someone whose name is Illlilililililllilillililliili who is spamming nonstop for hours?

This was a massive problem with global ooc on P99 blue.

You are fucking retarded if you think this won't happen here.

honestly, at this point, i wouldn't even bother. i spent a long time helping new players in the hopes they'd stick around, but the real problem is that even when a massive majority of the playerbase asks for something (e.g. yellow text, global 1-30 chat channel) to promote a growing population, it gets turned down by devs that don't even play on this server. the fact that rogean peaced to play swtor, and posts on the FOH boards more than he does on his own servers' forums, speaks volumes.

this server will limp along as it is now, slowly bleeding off players until gw2 is out - after that, i won't care what happens to it anyway.

Great idea Amelinda, your support is greatly appreciated! I know you are trying to get ooc in (which I'm indifferent too), cool to see you doing the most you can for us, thanks!
