<global OOC> guild

There we go, the perfect solution to all those saying we need global /ooc "for the noobs so they dont feel alone".

Amelinda is making a guild called <global OOC> for all those players to join. Finaly this will silience all the trolls who are useing that smokescreen of "helping the noobs" to bring their forum warring in game with a /ooc channel.

Well done Amelinda, I support this new guild. It will help save the rest of us from 24/7 rants and flames in game.

to the global /ooc proponents: no more legs to stand on, "the noobs" have their global ooc guild to join for groups/community, etc.

I guess this is a step in the right direction even if it doesn't appeal to people who want ooc for the sense of a community and are already guilded. I guess.

No, this is real life.

I thought you would be happy, the newbs wont have to run from zone to zone lfg anymore, they can all be in the guild <global OOC> with a simple petition as per MOTD.

Rejoice.

You still have RnF on the forums at least.

How about global /ooc for people who aren't newbs just to have more then a couple people in guild to talk to for shits and giggles?

But I guess since you're too dumb to figure out how to turn off chat filters we can't have that.

Appreciate the thought though guides trying to help, but if they do have <global OOC> as a guild it should be automatic at char creation.

Some newbs aren't going to petition and what not.

Hey guys I just wanted to let you all know that when you asked for milk I heard you. Here is some cheese.

lululalana 03-21-2012 11:05 PM

Players ask for retarded shit and they get a compromise that makes sense logically, then trolls cry about it.

Well, this is an unusual solution. Have to admit that, if it's serious, it's kind of neat and I admire the creativity.

I see two major problems with this, however:

1) As earlier stated, unless joining this 'Global OOC' guild is automatic upon character creation, new players may not be able to use this function. This also includes the times when /petitions are not answered(GM's are not robots, and are not available at all hours). This could be fixed, if it's possible to code it so that all new characters join Global OOC by default.

2) Small groups of players who start on the server often enjoy making guilds so that they may play together under their own, unique banner. Some recent examples from red99:

-Tallon Zek
-Meow
-Toof Spittaz
-The Ancient Mariners

Players in these small, new guilds would be unable to make use of the "Global OOC", as they are not in the "Global OOC" guild, even though they are newer players and may benefit from global ooc chat in general. I don't know of a proper workaround for this issue.

Like you, Arzak, I am not a proponent of global OOC. I also recognize that there are inherent downsides to the issue: for example, if the forums are this polluted with trolling/flaming, how then, would a 'forum-like' channel be any better on a server with dynamic chat(that is even harder to police) as opposed to static chat such as here?

That said, I don't feel like the solution you have presented here is adequate. I would rather wish to see the effects of a trial run of global ooc on the server, and if it is TOO terrible, then it can be removed.
