My fiancee used to bash these games all of the time. She started to notice how much fun I had while playing though, and when I was playing SoD one night, she said she wanted to play.
I had her create a character and we started out together and I noticed that she was just playing for the fun of it. She loved running around and stuff. She started to like the game, and then she even started playing WoW with me, but I messed up once I started playing my main characters and not playing with her. Seems that she only liked playing because she was spending time with me and I just wanted to raid and stuff. So, if you do get your wife/girlfriend to play, don't mess up like I did! Play with her and make it fun for her because most girls aren't playing for the same reasons that we are.

Good luck. My fiance despises the game - she won't even try. She says it's ridiculous, yet she has a cafe, farm and fish tank on FaceBook. Luckily for me I setup EQ night with my buddies on Thursdays, which is when she watches Gray's Anatomy - so I tell her, look, do something I hate... watch that show... and I'll do something you hate, play this game [You must be logged in to view images. My wife just kinda got involved in the game along side me back in 01 or 02. We also tried WoW, EQ2, darkfall, AoC, eve and a few others off and on over the years. SHE would be the one staying up till 4am to level an alt, my ass was busy working.
Tobe fair we also played table top D&D for a long time before i even get her involved in MMO's so that helped to ease her into it im sure. 10 years, and she's still with me on P1999. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

My wife will only play in very small doses. She loves asking questions about the lore and stuff and enjoys hearing stories about raids and laughs at some of our vent conversations though.
You have to admit camping in a game is a difficult concept to grasp when you haven't been doing it forever. You have yourself this huge open ended world filled with non-linear game-play elements and all this stuff to see and do. Yet the most efficient way to progress is to sit in one spot for extremely long periods of time, then find a new spot in another zone and do the same thing, rinse repeat. I wish it would be easier for her to just run around the world willy-nilly with no consequences but imagine trying to do a corpse run when the person isn't even sure what zone they were in.
