Mages weren't so bad in 1999 as I remember it. The pet didn't cast a root but rather an earthquake type spell that did shitty damage. With their current root proc, it will be rough. Luckily, I think you can get upwards of 60 magic resist and it shouldn't get you.

The gnome gank squad is amusing, however what was annoying was the 4 level 8+ Gnome casters sitting on the bind point in steamfont.

Its mostly a pain at lower levels for melee since no one has resist yet. Just use your rogue skills to avoid them. Hunt in corners, behind trees, hide and sneak away if need be. Also remember pets do not zone.

And earth pets have always rooted as far as I know.

Nope, casted some kind of earthquake type spell. The root was a change.

That's why the wizzie I had shit on mages long enough. The only one who really got me was Beisser/Finastik. The sow'd + MR'd pet, the ice debuff + lava bolt... shit hurt so bad it was like insta die almost.

Earth pet appears to cast its root too often. It should not be able to innately perma-root a target infinitely. It would proc its root (which seems to last too long here btw) at a rate not too far from how often any given melee character would proc with a weapon. Being permanently rooted just because a mage sent his pet on you is certainly not among my memories of classic PvP, and while mages were always a strong early-game class and are harsh when you don't have any resists, there was no phenomenon of mages automatically getting guaranteed, unavoidable kills on anyone they could target and do /pet attack on. I just witnessed a single mage pet keep myself and my buddy rooted at the same time for a good while. That is definitely not classic.

It proc'd the right amount on 99 blue, probably not different where you are. It takes barely any magic resist above the norm to resist that. You should be getting *some* resists even with no magic resist buffs/gear.

It is definitely classic that it should be murdering you with roots with no MR gear.

(here we go with the coming WoW Arena Forum QQing about classes)

the proc rate is probably fine (technically it's not proccing it's actually casting a spell/ability that does not require it to be in melee) but the resist rate is clearly not, as i said in another thread a blue con earth pet will root you in place for the entire time he is on you and for quite a long period after he has been pulled off. i mean i mezzed an earth pet that was on me and i was rooted for practically the entire 24 second duration of my mez on the earth pet.

I don't care about the resists, just the fact that earth pets appear to proc something like every eight seconds or some shit. That should not happen. Mages should not be able to keep several people rooted by sending their pet back and forth between targets.
