Vanilla wow is referred to as Vanilla because only fags refer to it as "Pre-bc wow"

Also, Vanilla wow pvp = headshot pvp

I played WoW(original) from 2days after release until a week before tbc hit. It was the most fun i've ever had playing an mmo.

Large raids, awesome world pvp and instanced pvp ( Week long AV battles ) and shit was mostly balanced. (every class could just about 1shot another).

WoW was more streamlined than EQ and pvp was/is definitely better.

I doubt any emulated WoW server will ever offer close to the same experience that WoW did originally, but who knows. I'd definitely be on board if it could swing players like p99 does.

instanced pve content (and later, instanced everything) = fail
no cross-team communication = fail
etc

WoW "world PVP" was utterly pointless. Zerging eachother in Hillsbrad.... for what? The 15 second ghosted CR?

The reason I'm still playing classic EQ here is because of these problems. I could write a novel about the things I hated about the WoW PvP system. I even tried to get the devs to respond to a long ass thread I made trying to get support for an alternate "hardcore" PvP server. I'd play FFXI before I ever play WoW again.

Instanced pve wasn't so bad, and there were still world raid targets. (often outside raid instances you'd have wars during prime time)

World pvp was pointless because they went different directions back then and then scrap'd it. It was still fun.

Also, not being able to communicate easily thru chat isn't really a bad thing either. Plenty of other ways to communicate from one side to the other.

Original WoW pvp is still > EQ pvp imo (least pvp on p99).

Pretty much everything you do in an MMO is pointless, especially in an emu. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I've already solved the cross team communication, I've created variables that controll the following:
Crossteam talk
Crossteam group
Crossteam char creation
Crossteam auction house
Crossteam channels

Right now I've got everything crossteam turned on. Not every mmo is for everyone, so I wont argue your preferences - to each his own.

Edit: By the way, this client supports the honor system, as well as the diminising returns system. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

The best part about WoW PVP? The high population made it somewhat enjoyable. I just don't see that happening in an emu.

Sweet!

It's not uncommon for a good private server to reach 1k population, whether or not this one will be good remains to be seen.

I just feel like there's plenty of EQEmu PvP servers in this space. Image and DevNoob are doing a great job with Red69, and the Red99 release will kind of culminate the pvp servers. With the population, there really isn't even room for 2 servers, much less 3.

I'll keep the VZTZ server running as long as there's players on it - but there hasn't been any players on it for days...lol

I just finished up, and tested the code that elminates instanced PvE. Things like UBRS, BRD, Molten Core, Strat...They are still instanced, but everyone on the server shares the same instance. No more scurrying into a PvE instance to escape PVP!

I'll have the server up tonight at latest. Doing some final testing, and getting the website put up (required for account creation and such), with info on the client, the patches you need (which should all be obtainable from fileplanet). And the server info you need to get logged in.

One of the major things that WOW failed to realize was the need for competition. By making MC and the other raid zones instanced there really was no epic fights for zone control against good/evil. This statement alone will entice me to check this out, I hope you get some help but it sounds like a great WOW pvp experience.
