"unresolved" quests

I've already run into two strange things with the quest:
1) Both staff segment A and staff segment B dropped off Tallus Holton. I think he is only supposed to drop 1 segment, right? (source: allakhazam)
2) He also dropped the key: H.K. 401, but the bank assistant in HHK won't take it from me. I think you're supposed to get the 2nd staff segment in return for the key. (source: allakhazam). Maybe she won't accept it because I already have the LORE staff segment which I would have received this way?

On another note, does anyone know how to get to Carson McCabe, he seems to be hidden behind a wall but I can't find the secret entrance [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

if it's the quest I'm thinking of it was bugged on live for a long time too. So unless a dev here actually custom fixed it... Besides the info from Allakhazam, the High Guard Battlestaff doesn't even show up in the Lucy database so that leads me to believe very few people ever actually got it, or it was straight up removed from the game before Lucy started keeping track.

It shows an 8.75% chance of Tallus dropping staff segment B. I have been unable to find ANYTHING else about this item anywhere so I'm guessing both parts were intended top drop from the same mob which is whack.

There were many, MANY broken/unfinished quests in classic EQ. This was probably due to the fact that once EQ went live, most of the dev team was either fixing more important bugs, or transferred to the expansion (kunark) team. The way I see it, our options are as follows:

1.) Leave all unfinished quests out of P1999 entirely

2.) Leave the quests in, but broken like on Live

3.) Leave the quests in, and using our own creative judgment, finish the quests ourselves


Numbers 1 and 3 make the most sense to me.

its a drawf in a hut in WC IIRC. But i havent tried it on P1999 yet as i was too worried he would just eat my armor instead of making it smaller.

Can anyone confirm if this is implemented/working?

Yes I found that page too a while back. It seems to be for another quest though. But maybe the "bag full of pearls" is usable with reassembling the staff.

Brollus Hoost in Kithicor Forest reacts to:"what battle staff'":
"I was hired to steal a High Guard battle staff from the High Guard of Erudin. It is a gift for Carson McCabe. I guess he collects weapons."
