Omg yes I know ^^. I hated it! And yeah, the <20% hp penalty applies to all classes. I was seeing a hit above that though (around 30-40% up iirc) around L10 when at around 35-40 weight. Haven't gotten that heavy since.

Dropped weight to 14 and AC went up. Better to wear nothing after all.

Ohhhhh, I thought the question was whether or not the displayed AC changes for excess weight were accurate and significant ^^. As you've discovered, anything over 14 or so at lower levels will cause your displayed AC value to decrease. The weight limit increases as you level though. At 54 I think I can get away with 18 or so before my AC takes a hit. The monk wiki has a section on this iirc and I want to say you earn an additional .1 to your allowance every level after 10 or something like that. Apparently not a classic mechanic, but I wouldn't know since I didn't play a monk on live ^^

Ah, yeah, I did some testing and didn't notice any change to AC or AGI from 100% to 20%.

Second test was how AC was affected wearing armor vs naked...if I had better/lighter gear it would obviously make sense to wear, but naked with 0.1 weight +HP items is best for me right now.

AC went up 23 I think keeping weight down vs wearing crappy cloth/leather armor.

Right on. If you are on blue, maybe check with Tekylia on getting some crescent armor. He along with a few others help lower monks farm the armor there semi regularly. He had a post on it not too long ago, probably still on page one of this subforum.

Unless something has changed, the displayed AC will lie to you (in a bad way). The game client thinks that monk weight caps are from the late velious patch where they overhaul it (not in on P99 yet). In that overhaul they change it to something like 14.9 to start, then gain 1stone allowance every 5 or 10 levels... ends up 24 at 60.

Here, however, the allowance is 14.9 from 1-54, 18.9 from 55-59, and 22.9 at 60.

Just keep in mind that even if the client doesn't show you losing AC when you weigh 17-18 stones or what not below level 55, it's lying to you and you are actually losing AC.

That's good to know. Have you parsed the mi loss to confirm, or just anecdotal?

I think one of the devs commented on it at some point, mentioning the client and server having different values, but it's mostly just logic considering these facts:

1. Devs here have said that the caps are 14.9 from 1-54, 18.9 from 55-59, and 22.9 at 60 in the server-side coding that determines what happens in combat.

2. The game client does not reflect #1, but instead reflects the future patch that increases caps every few levels and maxes at 24.9 at 60.

I assume that #2 is because we are using the titanium client, which was likely designed while the caps were post-revamp. It is fairly well known that the values in our client are calculated independently of the server.

Interesting! I've not seem a dev post on it. Anyone has link? The wiki suggests a 2011 patch made them work the way you described the client working. That's wrong then huh?
