You're right. I kited from 36 to 51 so that's another reason.

Thanks for all the input.

you still solo ass/sup as a bard.

i did it at 47 with chain mezzing to push/interupt and twisting DoTs with my drum equipped.

the problem is you have mostly AE kited so far, so you don't really know how to play a Bard yet. i'm not insulting you, because this happens to everyone. we get spoiled by the godmode status of AE kiting and a reality shock when OT goes green - this is the point where 95% of bards quit their character.

you have to appreciate bards strengths and weaknesses, they have the most tools in their tool box for any situation. you won't ever solo dungeon crawl like a shaman/enchanter/necro but if you are good, you can figure out a way.

your offense and defense were low, you also need to slow the mobs haste yourself and have good weapons to melee shit, otherwise kite.

bards arent bad at 60 but melee output is always going to be low and most bards just dot kite people.

bards are a support class, they give speed resists and canata's

After many rerolls I stuck with bard and got to 51 last night. This is my second level 50 bard and I can easily twist 4 songs, charm, fear kite, dot, heal, etc. But when I went to lower Guk to solo my DE mask I died to the first green I tried to solo and the class felt so weak. PVP feels equally weak as a because I can't kill anyone faster than they can kill me, nor can I outheal their damage, nor can I kite at the edge of range because if i'm in range long enough to dot them then they can still get a spell off (except melee who have no chance outdoors.)

Many people say bards are solid at 60, but that doesn't seem logical. Do I just need better weapons + haste? Is there a better strat for 1v1 pvp against casters when 1-2 spells kill me (despite resists)? Are bards just good selos bots? Don't they get wrecked indoors? Why should I keep playing my bard? I just want a class that can destroy anyone 1v1 as long as I have the skill to do so. A great player with a bad class can do well, but a great player with the best class is almost unstoppable.

Suggestions? I'm always drawn to monk, but they seem so easy to play. Considering necro, wiz, or druid too.

Suif
50 bard.
Forget about being unstoppable in indoor zones, eq classes have lists of pros and cons and a con of being a bard is you aren't as powerful in closed spaces, a class like a rogue or monk will shine in these spaces but will lose to more "outdoors" classes like wizards when put in a outdoor setting.

Bard is a fine class but rogue or monk is good as well.

There are other factors such as how high charisma is for charming and mezzing. Also you need to have decent weapons. This goes for all melee classes not just bards. You can also just get unlucky and get a resist that 1 out of 20 times.

60 is the real measure because just like other classes, there are certain spells that greatly increase your effectiveness.

You will never be a bursty damage class but you can wither people down with the right gear or get away if you aren't winning.

server legend bard here. also solo'd ass/sup with garbage gear, so it's def possible. single pull with lull and kill mobs at the bottom of the ladder.

if you have good weps: slow mobs, give self haste+regen+stats
if you have bad weps: slow mobs, keep drum equipped and twist dots

also in pvp you should literally never do anything other than twist resists+speed and right click pumices. with gear + resist code the way it is on this server, you have like a 1% chance of landing anything on anyone, and if you waste 15s trying to snare someone 5x rather than just pumicing them, u gon die

Bard solo indoors is slow, self haste, dots maybe and mez mez mez. If you can mez everything reliably you can regen back to full hp as many times as you need.

Eh they were better when bereavement and dirge landed imo. Only need like 80mr to full rest dirge and 40 pr to fully resist bereave every time.

I wanna say that I dont think charisma affects shit for bards. Put quite a few points into it on Jody, and would always have everything break early with like 190 cha total or some crazy shit.

Charm kill it man. You charm a mob for 18 seconds and dot the other mob. Right as charm is about to break you charm the mob you were dotting and sick pet on your original pet. If you get good at this not only will you take almost no damage but you'll kill fast with full dot damage due to mob not moving. Also every time charm breaks on this server your hate towards your pet is basically at 0 which is something you won't be used to as every other server you generate an insane amount of hate towards the charmed mob. Just a dumb classic bug you can use to your advantage.
