If you thought age was a measure of maturity, or that other adults would naturally treat you better 'just because', then you haven't been paying attention to the world around you and the history of human beings in-general.

We aren't talking about society at large here, we are talking about a thousand or so classic EQ players, normal people that share common interests typically like to create an environment where they can do it enjoyably. The case is not the same here, because half of those people only enjoy creating an unenjoyable environment for others.

You aren't likely to go to say a car show and find a group of guys that trashes the place and tells everyone else to fuck off. They want to create a good environment to take part in their hobby. The same can be said about pretty much any other group of enthusiasts, just not EQ players...they have a special kind of retardation that prevents them from acting like adults.

But, the same can't be said about any group of enthusiasts. Have you ever been to a major sporting event? You have thousands of people, incredibly passionate about their hobby and their team. Also some of the rudest, foul-mouthed, most obnoxious people you'll encounter who will in fact trash the place and tell you fuck off. Lets avoid looking for specific instances to make our cases though, because they are easy to pick out and really do little to address the issue I was bringing up.

We are talking about society at large here. Some people are less than ideal company no matter where you interact with them. To expect that somehow you wouldn't encounter those people here, on this server, is just naïve. Trust me, EQC would have had exactly the same types of players and problems. Because it's human nature, not because it's localized to project1999.

If the poster had instead done what many of us have by ignoring the filth and socializing with like-minded players, he wouldn't have had such a miserable experience.

I don't think you're an idiot by any means, you're probably an intelligent and sensitive guy/gal. I just think you need to thicken up when faced with difficult people. I only pointed out that what you were complaining about exists everywhere. So to condemn this community and server because of it is pretty foolish.

Ok well then I am wrong. I do think I have about as thick skin as you can have. I can just go off of what I see though. And as you can clearly see the guy who apparently thinks I'm gay, as if that's an insult. So what is a newcomer to the community supposed to think? If I was a gm, moderator, or someone invested in the well being of the server I would most likely IP ban the people who caused such needless drama/griefing/stupidity. I would think most people would like to grow a nice pleasant community of players who can, for the most part, coexist without all the nonsense. The first thing people are usually subjected to is the nonsense that you see on the forum. That's not exactly a welcome mat.

I am Beledric, the guy who posted the EQC alpha footage on youtube. Coincidentally I was also involved in some beta testing, mostly to do with database stuff when this server was still in that phase. Was here from day one when things were not quite near perfect yet, understandably.

I was hoping that EQC would come to fruition, but right now it doesn't look good. There is still a glimmer of hope with harakiri. He hasn't said anything at all on the announcement topics on the forums so who knows what's going on. If he calls it quits, then by YLs previous statements about if he and hara quit then he will release it, maybe that will open the door.

The Alpha testing was pretty fun for a while, then we came to a point where there was really no more else to report as far as bugs, or atleast what we could find.

Back to P99, I was here on day one when the server launched and I was pretty bummed by how awful alot of the people were to each other. I would of thought years of growing up and maturity would have made the community much more bearable, or even dare I say pleasant. I was wrong I am afraid. There were douche bags left and right, though not to say there weren't lots of awesome people to play with, but it is easy to tell the douchebaggery that was going on by the few spoke way louder than the pleasantness of the many.

I abandoned hope of this server and stayed on board of EQC, the community that always seemed much better in terms of how nice people were to each other. It was overwhelmingly positive.

The one thing that always keeps me away from this server is this forum. If this is a signifier of how people act towards each other in the game, then this is a very damning statement. I would propose that the main thing keeping people away are 1. the beginning stages of the game where there is no one to group with 2. I hear the raiding guilds absolutely hate each other with a passion (I have been told this guild TMO is perhaps the main offender) and 3. The fact that alot of people around here treat their fellow players like dog shit. I dunno how people could come off so insidious but holy shit it's true.

I've been getting the itch lately, but once again all I have to do is visit this forum and I'm set straight. You guys are your own worst enemy, well the assholes anyways. You vocal minority are the reason I usually ended my videos with "no cunts allowed".
