I won the necro BotB on Terris Thule. Remember having to fight Liqwid for the final fight. Fun times...

You were allowed to fear, it was a mostly a match of fearing and dispelling the pet. Then if the pet broke you'd quickly cancel the dispell and cast a spell against the opponent.

I was in BOTB.

This is what I remember.

- Being buffed with shield of the magi, spirit armor, and having my skeleton pet up and hasted, and being FM before the fight. This means we had more than 30 seconds to prep. I think it was 2-3 minutes.

- Nobody else is allowed to buff you.

- Switching spells was allowed during the fight, but it was risky. I don't know about switching items.

- There were no pumice stones because I remember melee classes complaining. I remember using my jboots.

- Fear was not allowed, I remember using screaming terror.

I also remember losing.

For sure I remember you, and all the Valon folks...

Those were some good times. I found an old directory on my computer containing alot of screen shots and the chat log from the Necro BoTB fights, brought back some memories so I thought I'd check out project 1999.

I also remember mention of some sort of tournament Verant had, but can't remember what it was called.

It was held on another server I think, and characters were copied there for the tournament without their gear, then some "basic" gear was provided so that everyone was on even footing with gear and the fight came down to skill rather than equipment (Such as all warriors being in full Crafted, all rangers in Ivy Etched, etc). It might have been the group BotB they had which was either 4-on-4 or a full 6-on-6.

Cleric best of the best went as follows:
there were 2 gm played ogres with the same gear rooted in place within melee range of eachother. one was red one was blue. when the match start both just hit attack and dont do anything else. If either the cleric or their ogre died they lost the match. the 30 second buff time was kinda tricky because you have to buff yourself and your ogre.
for all matches not just cleric there were rules for everyone in the areana like if anyone casts any spells or says somthing in a public channel like say shout or oot they would get suspended because it can get in the way of the matches.
