If you think how easy it is on WoW and other modern MMOs, this requires a lot more thought... like playing chess rather than checkers.
Not defending them though, I've seen some terrible stuff in KC lately including enchanters who don't CC at all, or appear distracted (Netflix etc), bards that put clarity song on and are afk half the time, and people who cannot/will not use /assist. ...ok, that turned into a rank about AFK people. But that's an addition to terrible play... distracted players who are browsing the interwebs and being lazy assholes. If you don't want to XP, log out [You must be logged in to view images. Maybe its because DPS meters were difficult, if not impossible, to get running in EQ. There was no pressure to flex your e-peen.
Not to mention, so many people get bored with leveling that they buy accounts. You could have more crowd control experience on your level 10 chanter alt than the one who just joined your level 45 group. I take a sense of pride in trying to keep group chat interesting and worth paying attention to, and I like it when others put in the effort too. | ||

RPGs are not meant to be twitch games anyway. If you want a real test of motor skill play an FPS where acute levels of skill are involved. Playing an RPG MMO to brag about playing skill is kind of missing the point of these games.

In MMO's with real, scripted encounters, one guy slacking just a little bit will often end in a wipe. And the healer taking a second too long to decide on a healing priority list after major group damage kills the tank immediately. | |||
