Signed. PVP death without exp loss blatently goes against everything a hardcore EQ PVP server stands for. With the increased exp bonus, that should be motive enough to bring out the PVPers. This coming from a basic non factor non max level hybrid, who gets smoked in PVP routinely.

Andis.

What if I told you with just planar and resist magic up you'd correctly resist every root or snare cast on you?

Would item loot be OK with you then? Even if you were only in no drop naked, the resist system would be better.

I think you guys look at it as gear will be lootable (single pieces) but the resist system will be the same. Which would obviously be a disaster.

Imagine the East Commons/Nektulos invasion wars we coulda had if people weren't scared about XP.

nirgon you cant say that each root or snare would be resisted, cuz thats not probable

even if you do have alot of nodrop gear, you will have droppable gear

with item loot on a pvp server, it just doesnt add up man - people bag their shit instead of pvping lol its stupid

  1. people bind rushing
  2. people killing group mates in pve
  3. people refusing to give up zones after they have been defeated
Only person i've seen doing #1 and #3 is Gloinzz.

No, people who don't want to risk their items pvp in no drop.

And don't get rooted.

Math from the old formula shows if you are an even con that 51 magic resist is enough to resist every time. Of course it will differ based on level. But for as far as you're concerned, your planar no drop + resist magic will be plenty.

Tash/malo/occlusion (velious) of course can change that.

The system worked to be fine in planar no drop and even Velious.

The people it hurts the most are wreckless morons running around in dragon loot.

And.. quote me if I'm wrong here but the original xp loss was also a way to get people levelling in zones even after being 50 again to promote PvP. Wouldn't the same be true of people camping items? Just you wouldn't see people camped for 18 levels when they fall asleep at their bind?

Try to be a bit more open minded. If I could get more people who played on RZ to even think about coming back here, I'm sure they'd agree and show you the merits of such a system.

Imagine, you don't need to wear a tcrown, 2x jacinth rings to HAVE A CHANCE to resist root.

Some people want (and its fucking obvious) another crumby broken vztz clone. Those were frankly pretty terrible, especially considering if you're trying to "market" this server towards people seeking EQ nostalgia from 1999. They'll get chain pet rooted or rooted first cast otherwise and be like OK fuck this.

Risk vs Reward pal, read up on the original intents of the EQ designers. It fit nicely into PvP. It's also the reason Sleeper keys were bound to your body and seb/hs/VP keys for a while as well. It's a great system and creates excitement, tension, risk and challenge. Not banging your retard head on the keyboard rooting people.

Root does remain viable for locking down pets (without magic resist buff), morans trying to CR who are talking paragraphs of shit, or even trying to bind rush your raid. So don't erase it from your spell book if things are ever fixed.

Would really like to see who honestly deletes their character over item loot being added after a resist system fix. Nizzar won't, he even asked for a classic system. If he doesn't, the rest of the blue server explotier lepers and their nutswingers won't leave either.

Then you guys have something to gain by fighting them rather than them having more hours in the day to play than you and wearing you out with no real loss (let's be honest, they're on all day and the loss of xp at 60 isn't nearly as bad as say 54-59).
