Highpass (orcs and gnolls blocking the road) and West Commons (Small zone with decent mob density) would probably be the only hard parts of such a race. The karanas, Qeynos Hills, and EC are all either well guarded by NPCs or have such a low mob density that you'd have a hard time getting aggro unless a werewolf in WK took interest in you. If you came up with an elaborate enough event and provided the dev/gm staff with all of the details and did pretty much all of the work.

I think the staff would help you put on an actual event.

Advance registration required

At the start of the competition, each registrant is PM'd a name to use for the competition. (racera, racerb, racerc.....raceraa, racerbb, racercc etc) You can have multiple people PM'ing a "list" of registrants so this is simultaneous. Obviously you can't use race. You would be creative here to insure no one already has used the character name.

This prevents advanced creation.

I like a triathlon that requires leveling to 3, swimming, and travel.

Swimming could be just from one end of the Freeport docks to the other.

I don't know how you prevent buffs, unless you allow all contestants to have the same buffs and provide druids to do buffing.

I've thought alot about how fun a race from Rivervale to Halas would be. Was thinkin people would prob die too much at level 1 unbuffed, so you'd have to make sure you have enough druids there at the start to do pack sow right before (and perhaps during to people who die and respawn). Would also be pretty good to have them all pvp flagged, but then even your druids couldn't buff them. Maybe if you did have a GM they could just flag all of them right after start. Could call it like the "Ironling Triathalon".

Would be neat to see if people picked to run through Runnyeye or Highpass. Would probably have to have a couple 'pace cars' to keep track of the head of the pack. If somehow you beat a pace car to Halas then you prob cheated. The previously proposed idea about registering and getting names seems cool, but unfortunately might be a cluster in implementation (can you imagine how many will show up without having registered?).

If you WERE to do a race... why not a race with a buddy system?

Everyone who wants to participate makes a level 1 of whatever race you choose, gathers at a certain point, and then gets randomly matched up with a buddy. The first pair to finish whatever race is selected wins. Helps reduce the odds of cheating, since two people who probably don't know each other would both have to consent to the cheating?

bob i've always had a vision of having everyone start near gfay on a new toon, you provide fine steel, get a few people to PL them to lvl 10, lets say an hour maybe? if you have enough people to help. Then we clear out the ent to Crushbone, pull EMP to zone in and the mass zerg of folks have to kill him... with the killing blow winning a prize along with first to engage. of course this would need like 30 folks id guess but would be fun imo.

great idea, my guild on live did this once for laughs we had 25-30 noobs with 3-4 high lvl buffs classes to keep them going, emp cb can 1 shot noobs until lvl 10 or so =p

Dwarf chess is another great idea and gets me thinking what other geographical oddities could we use. One of the arms in Everfrost? gnome race from akanon to everfrost. set a time limit and its not first to arrive its which gnome can reach the highest when they believe they have reached their max height we record and whoever gets the highest wins.
