What i have learned in this thread is to never give random noobs large amounts of money as they will be suspected as RMT-ers.

I don't think having a fungi with absolutely no gear would be very helpful. Nor would just having epic/fungi. Better off having some good gear to go along with the epic.

What exactly is better for a new player than epic/fungi? Those two items fill unique roles that nothing else in the game does. Rogue epic MQ might be the biggest bargain in EQ considering the ridiculous ratio, stats, and max haste. Other classes would have to spend fortunes to get the same benefits, and even that would be spread out among multiple stats. Rogue epic would be priority #1.

Then you could basically buy whatever random gear to max out your str, that the difference that will make will be very insignificant compared to epic. Or, you could buy a fungi which would give a ton of survivability. The nice thing is that it's most effective at the lower levels, which is exactly when tanks (including SKs) will have an awful time trying to hold aggro from an epic rogue. The most important thing in this game is levels, and I'd imagine a fungi (as well as a jboots MQ) would save you (and your exp) numerous times while leveling up. Fungis also hold their value better than stuff like mithril armor will once/if Velious comes out.

Of course, the question is whether you'd be able to afford a fungi after buying an epic MQ. Probably not, but I guess it could be possible.
